Yup. If we had last year’s OL, I would genuinely believe this was the best team in the country and it might not even be close. I think many, many national pundits would feel the same.

But we don’t, so, ok. Is there absolutely no outcome within the full range where we can’t be close? Sure there is. There are probably very few where we’re better, but certainly some where we’re as close to as good. And if we’re clearly the best roster in America with the 2025 OL, why can’t we be the best or well within the Top 3 if the 2026 version is close.

Honestly, barring injury of course, I just can’t see anything other than the OL derailing this team. I know for a fact Mensah is good, the weapons are absurd, the defensive talent is insane, we have amazing coaches up and down the line. These are facts. I have zero questions at all. Honestly, the entire season, to me, comes down to the OL. Obviously I have other questions as to where things will fit, but I am fully confident every other group, side of the ball, coordinator with position coaches, and the head coach can win a natty. All of it. I’m just waiting to see how this OL shakes out. And with our coaching staff, could there be a better position to be “concerned” about?

I’m with you. I’m not trading this roster for anyone in America, straight up. Maybe that’s proven to be a foolish statement by year’s end, we’ll see. There are definitely some really good rosters out there. But we are absolutely loaded everywhere.

Even if the OL is an issue at the start of the year, though I doubt a Mario/Mirabal coached team’s weakest link will ever be the OL.. they have 4 games before they go to Clemson to get the starting 5 figured out. I figure 8-9 guys will play those first 4 games at multiple positions across the line, and after they study the game film, those 2 O-line savants will know exactly which puzzle pieces fit, and where they fit best. Then, by November, you’re looking at another dominant, top-10 OL. Just in time for the Notre Dame game.

I think it’ll be really good as well, but you’re right you don’t usually lose 2 first rounders and end up being better at that group, but those guys do have the potential.
 
Can we assume that Blount kicks inside on passing downs with Keona Davis as the other DT?

Does it makes sense to remove both Moten and Scott on pure passing downs?

Could be a Pass Rush Demon in the Mold of Damon Wilson. Yes he Can Play LB , but he will be 250lbs soon kids only 19.
He is a guy that can Replace A Haydén Lowe Talent 1 to 1. If they Make him an edge. Just my opinion

Kellen Wiley is a LB who can rush the passer. I don’t doubt our ability to rush the passer. Scroggins is a sophomore, he’s decent but he doesn’t blow me away. I really don’t expect the young, developing DTs to help out on the edge unless there are good bit of injuries. Mentioning players who can play 2 positions doesn’t really make me feel any better about depth. If any one of them gets hurt both rooms take a hit.

McConathy would have strictly been a SDE, he’s not sliding in on passing downs and he proved his ability to be stout as a freshman, he would have been a Junior this season.

I know former PFF guys said Blount and Wilson (he gets wayyyyy too much hate but when love is warranted, quiet also like OConner) said both had 9 pressure each and 1 sack each. Lightfoot had 7 pressures and Thorton had 8 pressures on 17 slot blitzes.. Its funny how national guys say the dline was incredible but on CIS if they not bain/mesi, they not setting edge, and they were not good enough.. Oh and they had a 61% pressure rate lol..

Wilson had 9 pressure, a sack, caused a safety and pressured QB on INT Oconner got.. LMAOOO but not Bain tho!!!!!

Here is video of former pff guys, they just break down numbers.. They also talk about how our entire offense is Mali and with him on field its 6.6 yards per play when he on field but get punt team ready when he not there at 3.2 per play, the dline stuff is at the end more towards..
