This Defense could be dominant

Haha I’m not telling you anything! Just cautious optimism, bro.
I don’t think this is a national championship team but I do believe this team wins the ACC and goes into the playoffs.

I just can’t unsee what I see with this team and I see the most talented, biggest, deepest, (pause) and most experienced team Miami has had since the 03 team. But what’s most exciting is Miami also have two coordinators who produced top 5 units in 2024.

If I’m disappointed so be it, but I’m bathing in the kool aid lol

We do this with every coordinator we get lol..I do think the secondary will be elite. I don’t see enough game changers in the front 7 to say elite but we really just need to dominate acc play
I did not think the defense would instantly turn around with Guidry. The team was not as talented. 2023 defense had one 5 stars on it, and he was being played out of position because the talent was so bad 🤦🏾‍♂️. This 2025 defense has four 5 stars, it’s just not the same. This is completely different.

The thing that scares me the most about this defense is how much more excited I’m getting about it every day.

As president and CEO of Can Never Have One Single ******* Nice Thing, LLC, this can’t be good.
Bro, I’m right there with you. Your post about the offense, made me look more into the offense now I’m just as excited about that unit as I am about the defense.

I will be able to tell you exactly what we can expect from this defense based upon where they line up Rueben Bain. End of story.

We were 14th in time of possession last year. Not sure how much more time our defense needs to rest but they were on the field for less time than 120 FBS teams.
That’s because we were probably near the bottom or top (depending on how you look at it) in defensive scoring drive time of possession. Hard to lose the TOP battle when you’re giving up 80 yard TDs on swing passes.

This defense is designed for TFLs. Blay lived in the backfield last season (10.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks), that’s why he was 1st team All Conference USA and an All American . Also getting up field is Moten and Scott’s game.

Just like when Many Diaz took over RJ McIntosh and Kendrick Norton feasted and went on to get drafted.

I have full confidence that Scott will look like the 5 star that he is in this defense. The only thing that can stop him is his play strength (According to D Lew, he came in only benching 225. Hopefully he has made big strides in that department)
Crazy when I see Cantwell is already doing 32 reps of 225 and is still in HS !!

Remember he was a basketball player, Scott spent his football offseason playing basketball and not lifting. On the bright side, kids who are 5stars while being underdeveloped usually explode once they get into a college weightlifting program.

It's way to early to know about this D. I have hope and believe we can jump into a top 25 D which would be a huge jump in itself. I need to know for sure our WR's are for real and truly testing this D. We should have a better feel late in the 2nd week when we start knowing who's going to be starting or getting a lot of snaps. Need pads on for that. As of now Moten looks like the guy at DT, but pads aren't on yet. I believe Moten and Scott will be the starters and Blay 2nd team, but my opinion doesn't matter. We shall see.
