Think of this about Perry...

I don't know if the shorter routes were by design or if Perry chose those receivers. I do know Rosier falls in love with the deep ball too much. I like big plays, but 3/4 of your throws can't be fly routes. Crossers, slants, posts should be the bread and butter. And then when they suck down in you go over the top. Perry looked very good from my perspective.

Perry will hit some snags you can guarantee that. He's young and still has yet to see the speed of major D1 defenses.

But he provides the best option RIGHT NOW at QB in terms of moving the line of scrimmage. That's all you want from your QB. Controlling the LOS (decision making and limiting turnovers) and moving the football (Putting the ball in places where only your guys can make a play). Perry already uses more of the field that Rosier has his entire career, and this is what makes him much more dangerous than Malik. Now he just has to put it all together to sustain and maintain drives. Period.

The one thing that does worry me is there were a couple completions where the defender met the receiver right as the ball arrived. Speaks volumes to his arm strength, but I wonder if better secondaries will be able to make a play on the ball.

Either way. Extremely happy that this move was made. It was necessary. Rosier was consistently inconsistent and doesn't have the volume of Canes turnovers to mask his deficiencies.

Malik couldn’t go 10-11 against air

We're all excited and pleased that Perry has finally made his presence felt...but let's be fair. Malik was 10-12 to start and 20-29 overall in his first start against a ranked team on the road. I look forward to seeing where Perry takes us. I'm thankful to Malik Rosier for bridging the gap, and now that it seems his time has come to step aside I hope we can appreciate his contributions and wish him well.

They barely threw the ball up the field. It was a very safe very conservative offense. Perry maybe slightly better than Malik but he is not the answer either. Williams will win the job next year.

Well that was said about Perry, also, last year. I'd rather take the chance with Perry all day than Rosier. Let him take his lumps now so he's ready for next year. Williams will get his chance to prove himself.
