These numbers clearly indicate nothing is wrong with our run scheme and or our OL

It’s hard to focus on the football being snapped from so far away, perhaps if mirabal were to bring the splits just a lil tighter

Pause

I promise you that if you showed this to Mario he would not say “I’m wrong and we need to change.” He would show you someone getting beat and say we need to “better execution and physicality at the point of attack.” You you will drive yourselves crazy until you come to grips with this. He thinks this is how you win as long as you execute, work hard, and be tough. This is his DNA and will not change a bit

They tried to run the same scheme they ran successfully last year, but without a QB who's a threat to run, without the explosive inside runner they had in Martinez last year, without a Center who could win and either get the second level or help a guard get to the second level, without a TE who could block well anyone really, and without a LT/LG they could pull to Coop/CiCi's side with confidence.

I thought when they didn't replace Martinez (no offense to Brown), went out and got Brockermeyer & Bauman that they were going to be more diverse in the run game this year, because it would have been silly to assume those two guys would be the ideal candidates to run the way we did last year. I feel like a dumbass for getting fooled by the end of the ND game and the USF game. Should have just stuck to my guns lol:

can we talk about lofton? what the **** did d money see in camp
He is soo bad, he is running a mesh route, against man you run away, against zone you settle and find space.. SMU is in zone, the WR on opposite side does an amazing job of coming across and attaching himself to the other linebacker making that bubble bigger.. The LB #29 actually blows his assignment and takes the cheese of bauman in motion and ends up doubling him with corner who has that responsibility already covered so if Lofton settles in bubble like Beck expects its an easy wide open TD, but he has been such a scrub ******* he runs to coverage and tries to make an easy catch difficult and the LB makes him pay then he drops it.. Mesh is soo easy to run with 101 type rules, run away from man, settle against zone.

It's so bad. College football in general is way way way now explosive than the NFL. More explosive plays and teams run for higher yards per carry.. it makes sense because these are a bunch of kids out there playing. Guys on defense are going to make way more mistakes than professionals in the nfl. There's more opportunity for mismatches as there are weak links on other teams because teams are incomplete talent-wise. There's endless opportunity to take advantage of all this but we don't even try.. we pride ourselves on being a running team but our yards per carry is so low it's pathetic.

Don’t feel bad for being fooled. A lot of of us are questioning all the spring season hype that’s not caring over into the season

I think D forgot about his film from last year and instead, put too much weight on what the staff told him and what he supposedly saw on greentree. The injury excuse is just that - an excuse. He is what he is - an undersized kid being asked to do things he shouldn't be doing and a kid who is a marginal athlete at TE. JMO.

Yeah, you pretty much have it. I don't think this OL is as bad at the run as the stats indicate. There are a few issues with our run game - no vertical threat of Arroyo, a dynamic QB and unpredictability in the run game.\

I think this year's WRs are just as good as last year's. Martinez was a nice RB but not as dynamic as you indicate. I think we are fine at RB as well. So what's different? QB and TE. There's your difference. We had difference makers at both. Compounding the issue is our tendency to be VERY predictable on offense. Those things amount to a stifled run game.

dive, screen, false start, incomplete.

we dont even pride ourselves in really being a running team. we want to run, but run one way and thats it. you can be a running team and do it in diff ways with a diff vision, but mario wants to stick to his identity.

Posted this before..... It's the lack of explosive runs
100%

Our lack of explosives from the RB's is the worst it's ever been.

We're at a 2005-2006 - Tyrone Moss - Javarris James - Charlie Jones - Derron Thomas - level of explosiveness.
