We can't go under center anymore IMO. Everything is too slow to develop and by the time Jarren turns around on play-action, he's got multiple defenders breathing down his neck. What in the f^cking world did we give up, 11 sacks??? Honestly I just feel like we have to go more spread and get the ball out faster, because my god we cannot run anything but vanilla offense when the QB has about a second to get rid of the ball.

It doesn't even have to be spread 100% of the time, but i mean when they're stacking the box every single play and you know the O-line can't even handle a normal rush, you have to do something to help minimize those weaknesses sheesh. That's on Enos. Go 4 or 5 wide a couple times, do some bubble screens, quick slants, etc. Make those defensive players make plays; we saw how ****ty their tackling was at some times when facing our guys in space.

Dudes over the summer loved the fact that we were getting under center bc “Miami has always ran a pro style offense”. 90% of our players came from a spread scheme. Spread schemes are equalizers for a suspect oline. Something as irrelevant as getting in a huddle is even dated. Enos is a good playcaller but he brought the wrong scheme.

Edit: watch what FSU does with just as bad of an oline as us but the right scheme for Florida talent. That Briles veer and shoot is about to put up 40+ a game.

Only mouth breathing fools were rejoicing of the Penos hire and the subsequent 1990s offense.

When FSU is putting up tons of points it will ring even truer.

it just takes too long to develop everywhere...it's so clear to see from the stands that I pray our coaches aren't absolutely moronic and find a way to create a scheme in order to avoid the same mistakes.

Spread doesn’t help when your tackles are abused like North Korean women all night or when the QB doesn’t have a functional “head clock” and know when to throw it away.

These issues can’t be fixed during a season.

Spread does help. In most spread offenses you are getting the ball out quickly to guys in space.

We need to incorporate some screens and I wondered why we didn't last night. Being one of the best ways to keep an aggressive defense honest we should've at least tried a few imo. At the same time, being a realist and knowing we'd have some growing pains I'm not going to trash the staff for it. Remember, it was game one for all you snowflakes. We WILL go up.

And Barry needs to kick their azzez seven ways to Sunday and four back to Wednesday for the next two weeks.

??? Did you watch the game? There were numerous screens. They worked early then Grantham adjusted in the second half and took it away.

I get the desire to move Scaife and it’s probably the right choice but I personally would let them play against UNC at least for a bit.

Y’all would hate the **** out of me as a coach.

I guess it would also depend on how these guys respond behind closed doors and on the practice field. A lot can be learned good or bad about character when you get embarrassed like that.

I frequent these boards often and don’t remember one post loving anything under center at this point.

You have to think that some haven't even watched the game. UMs first drive spread the field horizontally, had motion, quick three step drops. I thought this was great. Then Grantham adjusted and brought the CBs up to take away the quick pass. The only way to counter that was to challenge them vertically. But he also brought pressure to take that away unless OL can hold their blocks. But we know how that went. Even when he went into the shotgun, he was pressured and receivers couldn't get into their route.

There is no scheme that can counter pressure, particularly inside pressure that gets to the QB that quickly. Those plays where he "held it too long", with one eye he was trying to read his progressions, with the other eye he was dodging lineman. When he did dump it off, it was borderline grounding.
