There's a Path

I have an alternative:

Miami — 9
ND — 10
Bama — 11
BYU — 12

It’s win and get in for Bama and BYU. If they both win, Miami and ND are bumped out, as they should be.

This solution gives the committee flexibility because BYU and Bama will no longer be punished for losing in their respective title games since they were already on the outside looking.

However, if you keep Bama at 10 or higher, then you can’t drop them from the playoff. It boxes the committee in. Can’t punish the SEC champ for making their title game. That’s why they need to bump them back to 11 now.

It wouldn’t even be a hard sell — Bama has looked like **** for weeks.
Yea I saw that tweet today and it makes too much sense.

Committee will never think of something that smart.

Make it so youre not punishing any team for losing the champ game. But would award them.

All teams are clearly close enough to make this happen.

Here's how Ole Miss can drop off without it being done in one shot

Mentioned this over the weekend. It solves a ton of "problems" for them. Even if the had ND a 9 and US at 10 for some god forsaken reason. Sorry Miami, BYU and Bama won, now you're out due to auto bids which may change in the future rules. And don't have to cross the path of CG attendees potentially being eliminated if they lose in CG.

You're gonna see just how bad they want ND or Bama in the CFP with this release tomorrow.

They should go

8 - Miami
9 - ND
10 - Oklahoma
11 - Alabama
12 - BYU

That respects the H2H in the grouping of 10-2 teams and puts 4 SEC teams in. Bama can jump OU and trump the H2H by winning the SEC. That league shouldn’t have 5 teams getting in. 4 is plenty. It also removes the possibility of having to “penalize” teams in the conference tournaments. Bama/BYU can both get in by winning.

Anybody really want a 10-3 Bama with a loss to FSU being the 5th team from that conference to be in?

Pate was right about one thing: if the Committee bounces Bama after UGA beats them, the SEC will press the Self-Destruct button and blow everything up.

That's the problem we have.

The team that lost to FSU by 14 points. The team that has played like trash the last month and a half.

I think the SEC shine is really starting to fade. I think people are staying to realize they're not in a league of their own anymore.

ND lost to BOTH of their opponents capable of winning a natty. No matter what 12 teams ultimately end up getting in, those 12 teams will be 100% comprised of teams with the potential to win a NC and proved it on the field… And ND literally on the field lost to both. Ball got spotted and TAMU/Miami won. 2 teams proved they can beat that type of team during the regular season. 1 did not.
