There's a Path

There’s no legal merit to that. The ACC is stupid but they didn’t violate the rules they adopted.

Now if we are left out and ND/Miss get in, then there may be legal fireworks as the Committee is ignoring their own rules.

I think that’s why DeSantis is pointing specifically to the rules of the committee.

Don’t be surprised if the State of Florida doesn’t get involved. I doubt the FSU fiasco has been forgotten.

The house of cards protecting them from an Anti-Trust lawsuit, falls apart if they don’t follow their own precedence and rules.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if DeSantis is back channeling this, as well as his tweets the last two weeks.

It was tongue in cheek, but maybe get some (leaving blank cause not in the town hall) judge which gives a stay just for a few days to have drama. That is what I would hop for.

We're at 12.

My (unlikely) hope is we get to 9. It feels like if we get to 10 they'll have to get us to #9.

But at least at #11 we'd have some hope.

If we stay at #12 then obviously it's over.
What's the difference in 11 and 12
10 and 11 both need to lose Saturday

No conference champ finalists were on the bubble last year
Bama was last one in and didnt play so how could we jump them
Bama was in unless Clemson won
I’m saying that they said everyone ranked below Bama was out. Like nothing would change except Bama getting in. I don’t remember there being a caveat of if Clemson loses. Because if there was, Dabo wouldn’t have said SMU deserved a playoff spot. The question going into the last and final ranking was should Bama or SMU make it. I’d imagine they’d probably do the same here. Everyone below us, is out. Spots 1-7 or 8 are safe.

All this would be so much easier if they just waited to rank teams towards the end. Ranking teams halfway through the season is a terrible idea if this is how they want to manage it.

Agree SMU was too high and bama had 3 loses last year

Bama isnt safe this year if rankings stay
No matter what eapn tells you

Playoff rankings timing is fine. The real issue is preseason rankings. That’s what is ******* up the resume arguments. No rankings until week 6.

Ole Miss should be left at home.

They dont have an offensive coaching staff. They are not the same team that went 11-1. FSU was left out because Travis was injured. This is far worse.

Ole Miss did it to themselves, too.

Def should based on their “principles” and the precedent they set, but no shot.

Ok so hear me out, this is the most realistic chance I can see.

Tommorrow, committe will do:

9 ND
10 Bama
11 BYU
12 Miami

If Byu loses and they lose their HC...we pass them. Miami to 11 now.

If Bama wins the SEC ship, they will jump ND. ND down to 10. (Bama wont drop out if they lose, so its better they jump ND).

Now youre looking at ND at 10 and Miami at 11.......that close of a call maybe committee does the right thing if they are sitting literally side by side.

We need to hope for 9 Bama , 10 Miami , 11 nd , 12 ByU and just that byu loses to TTU. (Sitake taking PSU job greatly helps!)

It SHOULD be Miami 8. Notre dame 9 . Ole Miss at 10 bama 11 byu 12 Miami

Not sure if this has been mentioned but Bama’s leading RB left the game Saturday on crutches.

Key player, not necessarily, but does affect their postseason potential, especially in SECCG, if he’s out for a while.

If bama loses the SECCG, there’s also a path but in both scenarios, byu has to lose.

If bama loses, they’re toast, imo. Sure, they can keep it close but having a 3 loss bama team not make it is something that has already happened (last year). Committee has yet to allow a 3 loss team in.

Question I haven’t heard anyone bring up. Isn’t the CFP committee a 3 year stint? A lot of people keep talking about the precedent not valuing head to head would mean and how it would discredit the committee. These are people that have other jobs and do this for a short period of time. The committee could brush off any blow back when these people are replaced. With no set rules, they can do whatever they want and deflect blowback.

I have an alternative:

Miami — 9
ND — 10
Bama — 11
BYU — 12

It’s win and get in for Bama and BYU. If they both win, Miami and ND are bumped out, as they should be.

This solution gives the committee flexibility because BYU and Bama will no longer be punished for losing in their respective title games since they were already on the outside looking.

However, if you keep Bama at 10 or higher, then you can’t drop them from the playoff. It boxes the committee in. Can’t punish the SEC champ for making their title game. That’s why they need to bump them back to 11 now.

It wouldn’t even be a hard sell — Bama has looked like **** for weeks.
