There's a Path

Not out of the 12 team playoff. Swapping out Bama for UGA ain’t the same as swapping out bama for a non SEC team. They even put SMU in the playoff after losing the CG last season.

The committee has said they won’t penalize a CG loser who was in the playoff the last regular season poll. More importantly, Sankey won’t allow it.

SMU dropped from 8 to 10 last year after losing the ACC-CG by THREE POINTS.

Alabama is currently 10. What, nobody on the CFP can move them down ONE OR TWO SPOTS for a loss?

Bull****.

Bama isn’t safe if they stay at 10 in the next rankings, of course it’s possible they ***** us and keep bama in, but winning and losing has to matter even in conference championship games, and with Miami having a common opponent win we’d have to make it in. (which is why we won’t)

Why would the 10th ranked team want to play the 3rd ranked team, when losing means the 11th ranked team, whose at home watching, gets in to the playoff?

Because it is contractually required.

Conferences would NEVER allow one of their top 2 teams to "opt out" of the championship game. It would, literally, NEVER HAPPEN. Conference membership would be at risk. It's not happening.

And that is fundamentally different from the ACC setting a "minimum rank" threshhold on CG participants, so that they do not run the risk of an unranked champion being aced out by TWO Group of Six conference champs.

Two different situations. The SEC will never and would never allow a team to "opt out".

I seriously question the sanity of some of these posters who cite "opt out" as a possible option in a wide variety of circumstances. It's just weak. And impossible in this situation.

Just watched a few different bracket prediction pods and none spent more than 2 seconds on us. It’s a foregone conclusion to anyone not tied to this program.

Remember last week when we had a bunch of whiny crybabies who were worried about Vanderbilt jumping back over us, and who told me that my prediction of Miami jumping Utah was not going to happen?

I don't give a rat's *** about "different bracket prediction pods". There are a lot of idiots out there.

It should happen. Head coach and nine staffers (so far) are gone. It's not the same team.

But but but, no "data point" (per the question at a prior CFP press conference).

It's bull****, but it'll be the CFPC's shield when it comes to Ole ****.

There is a better chance that Hunter Yurachek himself drives to South Bend and hits Marcus Freeman with his car, then drives to Miami to hit Mario Cristobal with his car, all while wearing a go-pro to live stream it on twitch….

…than there is of the committee removing ALABAMA from the playoff for losing the SEC championship.

If Tex. Tech or Bama get (and especially if they get beat badly) that could be a path for us. Texas Tech is an excellent team but a home loss doesn't look good for a 2nd loss

People aren't talking about it because they think it can't happen, I admit in the case of Tech it's unlikely but that's why they play the game.

there is no advantage, cost SMU a home game last year, might cost bama a playoff spot this year while teams like OU and Oregon don't get dinged,
Sorry, but there is just too much history and pride within “most” conferences to get rid of them. It actually means something to win.

Pretty surprised at how quiet we have been today. If we don’t ramp this up massively in the morning the school has clearly given up the fight.
Yeah I thought we'd go scorched earth after we won the Pitt game. I also always think Lucy is going to hold the football and not take it away

This is not Saban's alabama.
They lost by double digits to FSU.
Narrowly escaped Auburn.

They are not a guarantee. We may jump them this week. They haven't looked great.

No one in the SEC has looked great which is why having 5 of them is ******* baffling. They should have 3 at most but I can see the argument for 4. After that it's BS. There are holes in all of their resumes... TA&M beat no good SEC team... ******* SC blew it, Ole Miss might not only lose the coaches but also players, OU is garbage and other than them being Alabama's version of Louisville and winning a weird game, they got blown out by Texas, got a phantom call (and illegal play that wasn't called resulting in a TD) to beat Auburn and snuck by an LSU team with no head coach (that almost lost to western kentucky the week before) . Bama lost to FSU and looked bad lately.

They are all fluffed up by wins against ranked teams like South Carolina, Tennessee, Mizzou, and Vandy. All of which haven't beaten anyone of significance.

Any argument for an SEC team to be ranked over Miami either negates another SEC team or ND and vice versa.

They need to either livestream the discussions for transparency or have former coaches like Saban, Fisher, etc. with real football "eyes" doing the rankings. ADs are sports management people, not football people.

Rant over...:6fps6:
