Ole Miss and Oklahoma should be out. With title game losses, BYU and Bama should be out.

And anyone else with a reasonable sense of fairness. I agree idle teams shouldn’t get a pass. It is also the downside of overloading the rankings with teams from the same conference.

The actual rankings will just end up being
1. Ohio St
2. Indiana
3. UGA
4. Texas Tech
5. Oregon
6. Ole Miss
7. Texas A&M
8. Oklahoma
9. Notre Dame
10. Alabama
11. BYU
12. Miami
13. Vanderbilt
14. Utah
15. Texas
16. Virginia

The only reason Ole Miss wouldn't rank 6th is Lane Leaving. But there is no way they drop below Oklahoma who they beat.

With a like 5% chance of it going 9. Alabama, 10. Miami, 11. Notre Dame 12. BYU
And like a 0.1% chance of it going 9. Miami, 10. Notre Dame, 11. Alabama, 12. BYU - WHICH btw would be the best thing for the committee to do that way Bama and BYU are already on outside looking in for the conference champ game and MUST win to get in. Rather than potentially getting out with a loss. The PR of it is FAR better.... They should never have had Miami only at 12 after Bama lost. They should have immediately put Miami above ND then and there. All this could have been avoided for them...


If The committee was REALLY punishing Ole Miss for Lane Leaving, and was truly just getting the best teams in, it'd go:

7. Miami
8. Notre Dame
9. Oklahoma
10. Ole Miss
11. Alabama
12. BYU

With ONLY shot of Miami being Ranked 10 is if Bama loses by 2+ scores to UGA in SEC Championship game.

The CFP NEVER says anything untrue...they NEVER use terrible logic...they NEVER say one thing for one team and something completely different for another team.

I just have to shake my head at all these gullible people who "believe" that the CFP will not "penalize" conference game runner ups. When they have EVERY SINGLE YEAR PRIOR.

Yes they can.

Last year, the SEC whined when they "only" got 3 teams in. This year, if Alabama gets bumped, they will have FOUR teams in, UGa, Ole Miss, aTm, and Oklahoma.

Arguing for five or six? And acting like they will bolt if that doesn't happen? Yeah, that argument will not carry water.

Everyone if focusing (too narrowly) on Alabama. The reality is, if the SEC has "more teams than last year", that is sufficient. And they have FOUR, not counting Alabama. The SEC would still, quite literally, have 1/3 of all the slots, even without Alabama.

Big picture, people. Big picture.

Last year, the LOWEST RANKED team in the Top 12 who played in a conference championship game was SMU at #8 (pre-ACC-CG).

THIS YEAR, the LOWEST RANKED teams in the Top 12 who will be playing in a conference championship game will be Alabama at (likely) #10 and BYU at (likely) #11.

There HAS TO BE a penalty for losing a game. It's a requirement, even if it's just one spot. And Alabama and BYU are ON THE BUBBLE. They are not locked into at-large spots the same way that SMU was in 2024.
