There's a Path

I think there is a slight chance we pass BYU and ND this week

The final results are in for both Miami and ND. I would have hedged my bets that Miami can't finish strong, yet they did. Looking at ND and Miami head 2 head, Miami owns margin of victory 3-1. Miami also owns H2H

There is no statistical reason to leave ND ahead and you really have to jump thru some logistical hoops to argue for it. You think Yurcheck wants to be in front of the camera to defend that decision? The "out" he has had for previous weeks was "not close enough to compare H2H" or "still more games to play". Cool, both those excuses are out so now it's either "we think ND looks better" and get absolutely grilled my 99% of the media OR "they have common opponents and played H2H, Miami wins in both categories".....way way easier argument

Side note. SEC is so wildly overrated this year it makes me start to hate the sport a little

OU shouldn't be in
Alabama should be out if they lose to UGA
Texas even being mentioned is a joke
TAM and Ole Miss had cake walk conf schedules
Tenn ranked all year and beat....who exactly??
It's ESPN propping up these teams to be ranked to boost the other ones

I want to jump ND, if we get in, to avoid the doomsday scenario of BYU beating Texas Tech, closely, then #9 being the real cutoff for the playoff teams.

TT is much better than SMU last year; though, even if we go to 10 for whatever reason, that’s not a guarantee just yet; however likely.

Hard to compete against those guys up north playing for white Jesus. The bias has been alive and well for decades and isn’t about to change today

If we looked honestly, ND and Miami should both be in....
I have 2 flyer bets I could get very well burned on (and 1 will probably die on Tuesday)

Miami to make playoffs +800
ND to make semis +400 or something

The Curveball is Lane leaving for LSU. If he guts the staff as being reported you have an FSU situation all over again.
Can you imagine being and Ole Miss fan right now? Lane may need 24-7 protection. At the same players are free agents and run to the best deal available.

BYU being left out with a loss is possible. And Uva winning ACC is no doubt better than Duke. But no way in **** they leave out Bama. In our ideal scenario Bama with an L to Jawja drops to 10, we take 11, BYU drops out, and G5 takes the final spot. But I can easily see committee f****** us and giving our 11th spot to Uva.

Very true. The brand is all they got.

I kinda think if Alabama loses, the committee should be forced to drop either Alabama (3 losses) or Oklahoma (their win over Alabama loses its luster and they likely don’t have the metrics that Miami and ND have.

Also, the doomsday 2 G5 team scenario has NO impact on Miami. It would leave ACC with egg all over its face. But it’s either UVA and 1 G5 or 2 G5. Either way no impact to Miami’s chances.

Although each would have 3 losses, the CFP has said they would not penalize conference game runner ups
they penalized them all last year

Conference Championship game loses as always been a penalty
* 1st year in 12 team, all losers dropped spots
* in 4 team playoffs, it cost teams spots, including previous undefeated UGA a few years ago
* before playoffs it cost teams playing in NC

Now all the sudden the last team on the bubble with 2 loses, 1 God awful loss cant be punished?

I'd need to further research, but I believe the 2nd paragraph is correct.
