All of the following would have to happen:

- Miami and BYU swap spots on Tuesday night and BYU loses to Texas Tech next weekend.

- OU and ND hold at 8 and 9. OU did not win convincingly against LSU but their best win (Bama) is playing for the SEC Championship. ND's 'best loss' just lost to Texas and will not be playing for the SEC title.

- UVA beats Duke and we avoid the doomsday/2 G5 teams in the playoffs scenario.

- UGA HAS to beat Alabama and likely convincingly.

bama and byu lose they are out

Bama will not be out. People are smoking crack if they believe that. The SEC runner up will never be punished by the committee for making their conference title game.

BYU is a different case because they are already on the outside looking in, so they have to win to get in.

We could hop BYU, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s ND or bust. And if it doesn’t happen Tuesday, it won’t happen the week after that. Both teams don’t play again so it wouldn’t make sense to put them above us next week, just to swap us the week after.

This all depends on whether the committee is taking into account conf championship games or not.

Posters here have posted both the pro and con of this item

If the committee wanted to make things easy for themselves, you move us ahead of bama and BYU. Then make them both win their CG to get in. Then they can claimed they're unbiased.

Through this scenario they get what they want depending on outcomes. Don't have to worry about CG impact to keeping someone out.

We probably still wouldn't make it in, but they may be able to get everything they've been trying to achieve while meeting their previously defined criteria from prior years

I disagree, if Bama was in top 7, I'd say they were safe
being the last team on bubble at #10, makes it easy
a 3-loss team that got dog walked by FSU

if there was no 10-2 Miami, I would also say they were safe like SMU last year, but there is a more than deserving team, either UM or ND potentially left out

it reality Oklahoma is the absolute Joke in

I'm not calling for Bama to be out. It's more about getting ND and Miami to be as close as possible in the CFB rankings so the committee has no choice and has to rank us side by side.

1. Ohio State
2. UGA
3. Indiana
4. Texas Tech
5. AtM
6. Oregon
7. Ole Miss
8. OU
9. Bama
10. Miami
11. UVA
12. Winner of Tulane/North Texas

This is what I think is more likely than them dropping Bama if they lose Saturday. I think both are extremely unlikely.

The Curveball is Lane leaving for LSU. If he guts the staff as being reported you have an FSU situation all over again.
yes but you dont have 6 spots of the lane separation. even fsu only was out by one spot without jordan travis after seeing them play without him

NEVER happening.

miami and ND COULD switch tuesday- i think its a 1 in 5 chance they do the right thing based on things like this:

every CC game loser dropped spots last year, is Bama going to be the 1st to not if they lose?
I agree. But what school spent all offseason *****ing about not dropping a CC participant? It’d be poetic justice if Bama got screwed in reverse but I don’t see it happening to them.

See SMU last year and report back.

I still think if that game didn’t come back close after it looked like a blowout, SMU was gone and Alabama was in.

They haven’t made the comment this year that conference championship game participants wont be “punished” and miss the playoff but they did last year.
