Another team like the Canes of old. Not this team or any other in college football. Those of us old enough to have experienced the phenomenon that were those Canes, saw both the beginning and the end of an era. The players were different. Quick, nasty and blood thirsty with the ultimate sense of TEAM. The rules were very different. The changes made (because of those UM teams) have taken the sheer beauty and brutality out of the game.

Keep the memories boys.....that's all that's left.

I've been around long enough to see this program rise and fall more times than my brain wants to remember.

That type of football is dead and buried and it's only going to skew more and more towards safety not savagery.

If there is one thing the Canes have shown historically is it can win no matter what the rules are. From underdogs in 83 to bullies in 87 and 91 to alll business in 2001, our players have always shown the ability to do what's needed.

Time to move on and win the game football has morphed into. Think we do it this time with the stability and sheer amount of talent CMR is bringing in.

CoRch Rix needs more time. Have you seen the 2020 class?

HBC = Paul Davis

OC/HCIW = Kendal Briles

I just texted a friend a few days ago about how lucky I’ve been to be a canes fan since the 80’s. I was watching the Hester Highlights, and was thinking “I saw all of these during the actual games”. The highlights are mind blowing , but imagine seeing it live weekly.

The unreal talent I’ve been able to watch , mixed with the great individual performances and great games. It’s pretty mind blowing when ya think about it.

I’ve seen so much greatness.

Like I said , I’ve been so lucky.

The young ones on this forum will never know exactly how great those Cane teams were. You actually had to be there for the experience. There are some very good teams playing right now, but none of them can ever come close to what was. Watching them in person was like being at Woodstock. They were a national phenomenon.

Bama is doing now what we used to do so it can be done, damm shame money got all involved

Tell that to the poor SSU guy that got launched into his own punter by an old school Cane.

Miami has been competitive the majority of their existence as a team. Could have been more competed early on if football had not .just been an afterthought with the administration. Red Grange applied for the coaching job late 1940,s but was not hired because he was asking to be paid a whopping $7,500 a year. That is when we hired Gustafson. Had 2 top ten teams in the fifties but money was a huge problem recruiting wise until the 1980,s. Little trivia our first all American, Al Carapela, is still alive and lives in New York. He is 91

History repeats itself.
Everything that people said would never happen again has and will. Genocide world wars catastrophes. I mean, I said I would never bang another fat chick but then paranos posts those shots and I relapse. It all goes in cycles.

Thats the 2000 game. Dont think Taylor was on the squad yet.

No. This is the 2002 game.

Taylor (#26) hitting PK Sam (I think). DJ Williams (#17) recovered the loose ball, believing it was a fumble. Antrel Rolle (#6) is in the background.

The refs ruled no catch. Close, but bad call.

Unless we hire Butch Davis - who recruited JJ's teams, set up Erickson, then recruited the 2000, 2001, and several players on the 2002 team.
