I'm not sure where to start on this. So basically not winning a Natty means crap?
Just how much should we care about the ACC CG, the CFP doesn't. It means nothing.
Winning 10 games in a season is a mark of success, there are about 100+ teams that didn't and can't do that out there.
I agree we underperformed, but a win is a win.
Last, I don't want to go to any conference, I would rather play the game we used to and ND is doing now, in the modern CFP picture today, it's to be an independent and tippy toe an agreement with someone like ND does with the ACC. I would also sign a TV contract with someone like NBC does and use that revenue to booster our brand and NIU.
Then when everyone folds the two weaker conferences into 2 super conferences, then and only then think about going into another conference. When it benefits us. I would get out of the ACC because there is not a single thing they have ever done for us. i.e. NCAA investigations, the way they treated SMU as a first year in the league last year and putting us down in lead up to the ACC CG and the playoffs, the Heisman lack of support for Ward, the lack of support for us as related to the Wisky lawsuit and crap with them over our DB signing. I could also use the cherry on the cake of the flags \ refs bias, but that literally is the least of my grip with them. That is low hanging fruit others complaining and grasping for.
So that is my retort. Folks will remember ten win seasons, even more than conference championships. They are historical milestones that measure the program, long after the season. They generally are the only thing that is looked at past natty trophies. They matter way more than bowl games and bowl game results. It is what is looked up and see where you were, and measures where you are.
