MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

I know but what has this years committee done that falls in line with any of the past?

No idea but i know this committee has put teams who have played back to back in the rankings 14 times and in all 14 cases, the team that won head to head was ahead.

I remain adamant. You cannot reveal a ballot Sunday that says ND 10 and Miami 11. That cannot happen. Do they rig it some other way? Leave BYU 11 with a loss? Move Bama down to 10 if they lose? Maybe. But 10 ND and 11 Miami can’t happen.

Just popping in to tell you guys that Boysee State winning the Mountain West conference championship game against UNLV is going to be used by the playoff committee to give notre dame a boost over Miami.

The domers beat Boysee State earlier this year.

ND hasn’t really moved. I think since Tuesday they’ve gone from -350 to -320 rn. Seems like everyone is just tossing money on us before things move closer to a pick em if BYU loses.
Nah on DK Nd has nearly mirrored the opposite of us,m

We were + 400 they were -400

A few days back they were -550 we were +650

I strongly believe that a BYU loss and we’re in

The made up buffer was cool on the weekly shows but nobody is gonna care if there’s 1 team between us, the committee will receive the same heat and it’ll still be ND “IN” with a head to head loss and us “OUT”

It’ll only further show the sham if they try to play musical chairs by keeping a buffer between us in the final ranking

bama used as the buffer if they lose and byu loses

The buffer doesn’t exist

They’ve been saying it does but Sunday is final ranking

Nobody is gonna say “oh well it’s okay they ignored to head because bama was between them”

It’s still the loser with same resume getting in over the winner

If byu loses i think we’re set

Obviously if bama and Duke win it helps but either way they won’t ignore that head to head if byu loses

i hope so and felt the same until the bama/nd redirection

The whole situation is a farce, set up by an unfortunate but predictable combination of lazy thinking, outdated heuristics, and bold extrapolation. The committee was guessing the Canes would step on their cranks as usual- hence the extreme drop in the ranking after the SMU loss. This sort of magical thinking is the same stuff that made AP voters continue to rank ND top-25 after going 0-2. ND may well be a top ten team now, but that's an assessment we can only make now with the full season of results in.

But in the end, I think that the one team buffer argument (just like its cousin from three weeks ago, the "comparison pool" argument) is a smokescreen. There is exactly one more at-large spot up for grabs regardless of all conference championship game outcomes. If BYU wins, they take it. If BYU loses, it comes down to Miami or ND. I don't think any other outcome matters to this process.

I could be wrong but I recall seeing them at -500 earlier this week, and -375 as recently as yesterday.

It’s a slow bleed, but a bleed nonetheless.
Maybe. I’m in GA, and the only book I can see is FanDuel. They were at -350, -375 something like that, I believe after Tuesday. They were a lot higher before that.
