I agree that we should’ve kept foot on the pedal. I think Mario learned his lesson going forward.

However, SOS of Miami & ND is nearly identical (+1 or +2 in favor of Notre Dame). That’s not enough for that to be given priority over a H2H win for Miami.

I know I’m late on this but I have been saying that I think there is a huge antitrust suit here and that we should lead this with partner schools, as well as certain government agencies.

Someone else said there isn’t because they have no duty, but that would be in a typical negligence or breach of contract case. Also, they do have a duty anyway. I believe quite strongly that there is an antitrust suit to be filed against the CFP, ESPN, and the NCAA, under violations of the Sherman Antitrust Act. There is also plenty of recent precedent establishing the NCAA has violated antitrust law in other ways (i.e., athlete compensation cases).

Florida State Attorney General already began an antitrust investigation into the CFP Committee after FSU’s “snub.” The potential suit would involve the CFPC and ESPN due to their anticompetitive collaboration in ensuring teams from certain conference have a substantially higher likelihood of making it into the CFP. Obviously, those teams are one from conferences that have certain broadcasting contracts with ESPN and other affiliates.

There is also other evidence of how ESPN colludes with the CFPC to influence and promote certain teams from those conferences, which I have detailed in other posts. Suffice to say, I am sure that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Add the issues the member schools have had with the ACC, and the back door deals, and yes, there is a huge antitrust case here.

It's a shell game. It was deliberately set up this way to keep one spot of distance between us and ND -- that's why the justification for movement made no sense. In order to make this work the goalposts had to be moved from pods to back-to-back, which they've already done. In every previous CFP ranking teams with the same records that had won head-to-head were ranked above the team they beat. Every time. The principles of the committee were set up in advance to provide a framework that would remove ad hoc decisions based on biases. This is the only way ensure decisions are respected.

I disagree. OU is not dropping below ND if Bama wins. That bolsters OU’s resume.

TrumpyCane still thinks the biggest thing we have going for us is the national media is supporting us outside a few dumbasses which puts pressure on the committee

Why TrumpyCane thinks Duke winning also helps us, they'd be pressured to put at least one ACC team in

Yes compared to Notre Dame our SOS is fine. But my comment was in general. Especially considering we should have ranked above ND this entire time.

We had a bad SOS. SOS is literally the ONLY reason Oklahoma is viewed as a lock for the playoffs right now. 1 loss is the ONLY reason A&M, Ole Miss, and Texas Tech are viewed as a lock right now. Game Control is why we were ranked behind Utah for so long which screwed us pretty heavily. AND Game Control is the one metric Notre Dame is clearly superior to us in. Game Control is quite literally "the eye test", point blank.

Miami SOS is 57. Our Game Control Rating is 20.3. We have 4 Quality Wins.

Notre Dame SOS is 59, their Game Control Rating is 24.4. they have 5 Quality Wins.

The H2H is literally the only reason we should rank above ND. They are tied or better by the metrics that matter.

The issue is we aren't competing with EVERY playoff team in these metrics. If it were the case we have a better SOS than Indiana, Texas Tech, Ole Miss, A&M, ND, Vandy... Our Game Control is better than UGA, Ole Miss, A&M, OU, Bama, BYU, Texas, Vandy. Our Quality Wins is better than Texas Tech, Ole Miss, A&M, Texas, Vandy, and Tied with UGA, and Oregon.

We SHOULD be ranked ahead of Ole Miss, A&M at minimum. But we ****ed around and got 1 more loss than we could afford to do that.

We should be above ND due to he H2H. Our only hope is the committee stops being ******* dumb. But the fact is both Miami and ND are superior to at least 3 of the Playoff teams currently in. And superior to 5 if you include the G5+ACC AQ.

Didn’t feel like Miami had as good of DBs. Both teams’ field corners were average at best, and Miami losing Scott means their nickel is on par with ND’s. But a motivated Miami team can beat anyone in America. I’m not sure you could say the same about ND if you have multiple 215-220-pound RBs.”

Pringle fully changed our offense, along with Mario and Shannon letting Toney be the centerpiece. I fully believe we can take on any team in the playoff with the way we are playing currently.

Wouldn’t be antitrust but potentially breach of contract.

ACC is contractually bound to cfp management committee. They take our money. Committee published selection criteria. There is an implied promise to use published selection criteria. All contracts should have a good faith and fair dealing clause.



If the committee applies different rules to SEC teams and ND than ACC teams, that can be framed as bad-faith, an arbitrary deviation from agreed-upon methodology.

I think we would have a strong case based on the fact that 12 out of 13 times the committee has placed one team over another based on H2H. The one time it hasn’t - Miami / ND.

Miami /ACC has about 4 hours left to file the lawsuit and try to get an emergency injunction. They won’t because the ACC and Rad are friends with the selection committee.
