MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

ND is in. Leave them out of the conversation. There are 6 teams for 2 spots:

OU
Bama
Vandy
BYU
Utah
Miami
Yeah I would have liked our chances a LOT better if OU lost yesterday.
But I still think there will be a debate about Miami in ahead of ND if we win by 2+ TDs the next 2 games.

They can't just ignore the head to head and we both have same records and similar strength of schedule..and we have much better wins than them.

Their own criteria are:
Record
Strength of schedule
Head to head
Performance against common opponents.
Etc etc

So what are some bowl games besides the Pop Tarts bowl would you like to see Miami in? Taxslayer Gator Bowl against the SEC in Jacksonville would be nice.

JMU isn’t getting in. North Texas or Tulane will. Tulane actually has two p4 wins; JMU lost to Louisville.

Why is everyone else allowed to lose games but us? I understand your point, but we’re not Ohio State. We’re not going to kill everyone.

Go look at the records of teams in the top 15. Most teams have “bad” losses or close wins against bad teams.

Seems we’re held to a higher standard than a lot of other teams.

Not so much us being held to a higher standard, it’s more the SEC, B1G, Notre Dame are graded on a curve.

THIS. People think the committee uses same rules every season, the reason they meet up is to pick teams they want and make up excuses they picked those teams after. Whatever reason they used prior for a designated team or conference in year prior does NOT apply for your team next season..

They will justify with NEW rules..
this they want the 12 teams they want in. it doesn't matter if that 12 isnt in their first poll as long as its in their last. thats the only one that matters. the week to week is just bull**** tv drama. theyre going to pick the 7 they want in there and will figure out why later regardless of where those 7 are ranked right now.

There is no justification for Notre Dame to be in front of Miami.
Bingo. A head to head to win should ALWAYS carry more weight than any other metric. Any attempt to justify putting Notre Dame ahead of us SHOULD BE shot down immediately with "Miami beat Notre Dame". Full stop.

"They're a different team now."

Doesn't matter. Miami beat Notre Dame.

"If the game had been played on a neutral field or in South Bend.."

Doesn't matter. Miami beat Notre Dame.

"If they played today, the results would be different."

Doesn't matter. Miami beat Notre Dame.

We did it to ourselves. 2 losses to teams we had no business losing to. Until this staff changes their DNA and learns to play with purpose and maximize that talent advantage we will continue to lose games we should win.
I agree 100% with your overall premise, however, the SMU game was completely stolen by the refs. Should it have been close? No, and i know that's what you're referring to but that was complete bull****. If that happened to Bama, Georgia, LSU, ESPN would've had non-stop coverage for days and there wasn't a mention for us by anyone of course.

Lol, Bama isn’t going anywhere unless they lose again. A 2 loss Bama team is a lock and they will justify it with their wins @UGA and their other “good” wins vs a ranked Vandy, Mizzou, and Tenn.
Some of our fans still believe we would be in over a 2 loss Bama. Guess they forgot last year that a 3 loss Bama (with a terrible loss at OU near end of season) was going to be in over a 2 loss Miami if Clemson didn't beat SMU in the ACCCG.

Your third point I don’t think is that cut and dry. Our defense is a lot better today than week 1.
