MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

1-I’m not sure that we don’t need Vandy to lose to Tennessee. We’ve all just assumed that we’re going leapfrog Vandy. But they’re ahead of us in the rankings and still have a top 25 opponent on the road coming up.

2-I’m not sure what happens to Utah in your scenario. But a lot of this just seems to rely on the committee suddenly ranking us ahead of teams we’re currently behind despite no notable wins by us and no losses on their part and idk why we just expect that to happen.

3-There’s basic zero chance that Notre Dame on a 10 game winning streak is falling behind us. They lost by 4 points combined to an undefeated TAMU and on the road against us. We can cling to that week 1 game all we want. But they’ve simply played better football the last couple months.

4-We got ranked behind a 3 loss Bama team last year, idk why people think we’d leapfrog as 2 loss one this year.

We did it to ourselves. 2 losses to teams we had no business losing to. Until this staff changes their DNA and learns to play with purpose and maximize that talent advantage we will continue to lose games we should win.
Oh ****. I forgot we lost those two games. Good point and very relevant to the thread. Nice catch

I will disagree with this because why is certain teams punished for losing two games when it’s common across college football? As mentioned if you’re not a conference champion, you are a bubble team and we should use Fair selection tactics

We win out and we are in.. if GT lose the ACCCG, they are out.. though they say CGs won't matter, they will use it to justify dropping them if it comes to that.

We make it because they can't have ND in and us out... with the same record and us having beaten them
yeah they certainly can. ND has 2 "good losses" to ranked teams. Our losses are "mid tier" acc teams in what is a **** conference. Plus general ND bias. We're in a very bad spot

the acc does suck. it isnt a perception problem. the league isnt good. the only team the committee respects is miami right now within the acc.

also, when the sec wins and dominates year in year out on average, there is no bias that is required. they routinely have the best talent and win the most

that said, they already hinted at miami is in if they take care of business. thats why you saw a jump to 15. being at 18 or 15 doesn't make a diff. the committee is gonna put their 7 best at large teams regardless of where they are in the ranking right now.
So after everything you just said, you are also saying that if Vandy wins out (Kentucky, @ Tenn), the committee is gonna jump us over them and put 2 ACC teams in?

Unfortunately, our dreams probably died when GT came back to beat BC and Oklahoma beat Alabama. Those two really hurt us.

If we win out and look like we did today in the process, we'll easily jump both Utah and Vandy. Neither team has a top 25 win, unless they somehow get Missouri in. We'd still have a win over a top 10 ND team.

From there, even if Texas lose to UGA and BYU loses to (take your pick), that only gets us up to #11.

Since the ACCCG and group of 5 winners both get auto bids, we'd be the first team out.

There's a very real chance it comes to us vs ND for the final spot, and I think we all know they'll pick ND.
I cant wait for the committee to explain how they justify ND getting in over Miami. They need to do the right thing and move Miami to #11 this week.

If it plays out like above, Utah has a24 point home lose and a head to head lose to BYU where the head to head metric comes in again
Exactly and when you look at Utah’s schedule, if they’re gonna prop Notre Dame up the way they are, Miami get in over Utah because of strength of schedule

ND is in. Leave them out of the conversation. There are 6 teams for 2 spots:

OU
Bama
Vandy
BYU
Utah
Miami
Agree. We need....

OU - Need them to lose one more. Don't see it happening
Bama - Need them to lose one more. Probably not happening, but Auburn will play them tough
Vandy - Need them to lose one more. Good chance that happens against UT. Committee will put in
a 2 loss Vandy over 2 loss Miami. If they beat UT, the SEC lovefest will be on full display.
BYU - I think we need them to lose one more, although the committee hasn't liked them all year
Utah - Don't think we need them to lose again.

I think theyre going to put Miami in no matter what in the final ranking if we finish 10-2. ive said that from the beginning we heard their comments when we got placed at 18. The only team they respect within the conf is miami and they want miami in it over vandy/byu. just wait and see what the final poll looks like in a few Sundays

Why is everyone else allowed to lose games but us? I understand your point, but we’re not Ohio State. We’re not going to kill everyone.

Go look at the records of teams in the top 15. Most teams have “bad” losses or close wins against bad teams.

Seems we’re held to a higher standard than a lot of other teams.

OP is using his own common sense criteria and assuming the CFPC would do the same. That is obviously absolutely not the case.
THIS. People think the committee uses same rules every season, the reason they meet up is to pick teams they want and make up excuses they picked those teams after. Whatever reason they used prior for a designated team or conference in year prior does NOT apply for your team next season..

They will justify with NEW rules..
