MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

Yeah we needed at least one or two games to go our ways

We still have the issue of what if USC beats Oregon? What if Michigan upsets Ohio State? Or Texas against TAMU?

So even if teams lose in front of us we could end up leapfrogged by teams behind us.

Texas won’t jump Miami. USC possible. Winner of that game is probably in. Miami gets no help being in the AcC.

They have to get out of the conference.

Simplified for both CFP and ACC-CG

We should be ranked #14 in the CFP this week, jumping Texas. Maybe #13 if we jump Utah (we both beat 5-5 teams, Miami by a bigger margin).

Miami wins out.

Week 13 - Next week:
--Cincy to beat BYU - CFP
--Mizzou to beat OK - CFP (only need 1 OK loss)
--Syracuse to beat ND - CFP (only need 1 ND loss)
--K-State to beat Utah - CFP (only need 1 Utah loss)
----------

--Louisville to beat SMU - ACC-CG (need 2 SMU losses)
--UNC to beat Duke - ACC-CG (only need 1 Duke loss)
--Pitt to beat GaTech - ACC-CG

Week 14 - Final week:
--TN to beat Vandy - CFP
--LSU to beat OK - CFP (only need 1 OK loss)
--Stanford to beat ND - CFP (only need 1 ND loss)
--Kansas to beat Utah - CFP (only need 1 Utah loss)
--Auburn to beat Alabama - CFP
----------

--VaTech to beat UVa - ACC-CG
--Cal to beat SMU - ACC-CG (need 2 SMU losses)
--Wake to beat Duke - ACC-CG (only need 1 Duke loss)

For ACC purposes, the above outcomes would leave 4 teams tied with 6-2 ACC records, GaTech, UVa, Pitt, and Miami.
I was hoping wed be 13 jumping texas and vandy (idle) vandys resume sucks IMO. Blowing out NC state hopefully convinces the committee to put miami closer to where they belong...we'll see. Bama really blew it for us tho

Should be, but do you think some of them won't look at that? I personally think we should both be in.
I think you will see us both in if we win out. They will find a way because they know the public outrage will be off the charts. And they already said Miami passes the eye test. It’s almost like they were saying, just do your job and you will be fine.

North Texas and Tulane deserve to be ranked 24 and 25 respectively this week. Louisville getting their third loss kinda seals any chance of two group of 5 teams making the playoffs. JMU’s only loss is to Louisville.

Also, manny diaz coaches Duke. He isn’t winning three games in a row even if he does luck into the ACC-CG

How will the committee justify utah being 12 spots higher than houston? They might as well showcase the newest committee member, Utah’s AD, when that transpires.

Miami and UVA w/ wins over FSU who beat ‘Bama: 4-5 spots away from each other; both below ‘Bama.

Houston and Utah: 12 spots away from each other; both 8-2 w/ identical margins of defeat against TT. Utah’s BYU loss is “better,” than Houston’s WVU loss; still, Houston beat the only team to beat TT; ASU which is a playoff team.

While I agree, it always seems like the committee decides who they feel are the best teams (based on name, conference, preseason ranking, whatever they want) and then works backwards to justify it.

They also don’t seem to care about any public backlash. People have been lining up our resume with ND for weeks and it hasn’t done anything. Remember when they left an undefeated FSU out a few years ago and people complained for a few days and then everybody moved on.

the issue is the point gaps dont matter. David lake said it best - this is all for tv. the committee is going to put its preferred 12 teams in no matter what and they consider miami that based on comments. the rankings each week are just for tv bs. they can come out tomorrow and flip the rankings in reverse from 25 being the new 1 and 1 being the new 25 and it wouldn't matter at the end.

they dont need to go In any rubric bc its all subjective.
The entire media is talking about the ACC maybe getting none in. The ACC is suffering from a bad perception problem, rightly or wrongly.

ND blowing out Pitt was bad. Now if we don’t blow them out, it’s a narrative that ND improved from opening game. And they are the most prized tv darling of them all.

Similarly to how our players constantly get overhyped around here, so does the Miami brand. We haven’t done a thing in almost 25 years. ESPN and the SEC are in bed together.

Not to mention what the committee already told us when they ranked Miami 18.

We need chaos to get in, whether through the ACC or at large. We didn’t get enough of it this week. There’s still 2 weeks to go. I’m not giving up. But we need help.

USC and Oregon is interesting. I think, we would prefer Oregon wins? Gets USC off our back?

I think Missouri has a chance to knock off OU. It’s a tough spot for OU after the Bama win.

Kentucky could beat Vandy. They need to if they want to become bowl eligible.

Feel good about Louisville beating SMU. No way a team like them drops 3 in a row.

I don’t see BYU or Utah losing, unfortunately. We just gotta hope our resume is better than theirs if we win out.

Mizzou lost their starting QB a week or 2 ago

Sadly, ND, OU and byu will most likely win out. If we win out, we’ll have to win with style points and THEN pray to get an at large bid.
ND is winning out.

BYU could get clipped next weekend by Cinci. I don’t think UCF has enough to beat them in the final week. Pretty sure they are down a few QBs.

OU is a really good team. But they still have Missouri and LSU. Those are both losable games. No different than us vs SMU and Louisville. Hold the line, but we need some help for sure.

Cover 3 podcast said we might not move up at all. Said Texas won’t drop far (I disagree), and that the point gap between Miami, Vandy, and GT was so large that it would take too many voters to ding GT for a bad win (and Vandy for not playing).

Hopefully they continue to correct for that original 18 ranking because we didn’t get a great week chaos-wise. It’s not over yet, but we are running out of time to close the gap.
I think this is in reference to the AP where they publicly release the vote tally.

Just beat VaTech and Pitt!!! Simple as that.
We aren’t getting left out at 10-2 especially if ND wins out.

If Oregon can beat USC and then drop one to Washington we should jump them. Cincy beats BYU and Utah loses to TT is probably our best path forward.

Mizzou or Auburn knocking off OU & Bama would be perfect but I’m not holding my breath either of those happen.

mizzou has almost no shot. Freshman QB on the road. LSU is our only shot. OU might have very well took our CFP spot.

For cfp, you need to factor in the conference championships. For example, bama vs Texas am. If bama is 10-3 do they get in over Miami?

i have a feeling we will be 12th this week jumping vandy and Utah.
