MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

Utah loses at home by 24 points and is still a better 2-loss team over 2-loss (combined 9 points) Miami?

I know they smacked bad Colorado and Baylor teams, but Miami smacked bad Syracuse and NC State.

I know they beat ranked Cincinnati, but Miami beat Notre Dame.

Makes no sense.

Sorry I didn’t get to finish my post because this site is weird and randomly refreshes. I don’t consider any of our losses “bad losses” at all. Louisville and SMU likely finish the season with 8-9 wins. It’s unrealistic to expect us to steamroll everyone every week. I mean, Vandy doesn’t. Oklahoma doesn’t. Ole Miss doesn’t. You get my point.

These talking ESPN assclowns with their vibrating SEC buttplugs continue to skew the rankings and the system to benefit the good ole boys. You’re never going to convince me Vandy, Oklahoma, or even Alabama has a better resume than we currently do. Ole Miss trailed UF for 3 quarters. Texas got their *** kicked by UF. Yet the media doesn’t talk about this, they’re hyper focused on our two terrible no good very bad 3 point losses to teams who were ranked at some point this season. The system is rigged. I’m tired of it,

Miami put themselves in a position to get jobbed. That’s on them. Beat a mediocre at best SMU team and there’s no system rigging that would’ve kept us out. It was on a platter, and we blew it.

Think when push comes to shove they’ll pick us over byu Utah as long as we breeze past the last two games, our problem is the log jam of SEC teams with 2 losses or less excluding Vandy. Sec getting more than 3 teams in is going to be scandalous , A&M and UGA cool no prob but only one of ole miss, bama, OU should be in.

  1. Beats Virginia Tech and Pitt
  2. Virginia beats Virginia Tech
  3. Pitt beats Georgia Tech, Duke beats North Carolina, SMU beats Louisville
  4. Cal beats SMU, Wake Forest beats Duke
In this scenario, Virginia (7-1 in ACC) and Miami (6-2) go to Charlotte with four-way tiebreaker advantages over Georgia Tech/Pitt/SMU.

That's crazy realistic, tf?

Only focus on what we can control. All these “if” threads r useless. Win out & let the chips fall where they may. We shouldn’t be in this position in the first place, but focusing on all these other teams only creates more frustrations. Just win out, & win out in fashion like the BCS days.
So am I buying the GT and SMU voodoo dolls or not. I am at the register. Somebody let me know sumthin.

The reality is, even if we win out we are going to be left out. But, we still can play a “decent “ bowl and finish 11-2. That would be a nice improvement for year 4. Most would view that as an excellent progress in this rebuild.
you are literally insane if you believe that Miami playing once again in the POP TARTS BOWL - which is where we would go being in third place

would be a win

HALF THE TEAM WON'T EVEN SUIT UP!!

Simplified for both CFP and ACC-CG

We should be ranked #14 in the CFP this week, jumping Texas. Maybe #13 if we jump Utah (we both beat 5-5 teams, Miami by a bigger margin).

Miami wins out.

Week 13 - Next week:
--Cincy to beat BYU - CFP
--Mizzou to beat OK - CFP (only need 1 OK loss)
--Syracuse to beat ND - CFP (only need 1 ND loss)
--K-State to beat Utah - CFP (only need 1 Utah loss)
----------

--Louisville to beat SMU - ACC-CG (need 2 SMU losses)
--UNC to beat Duke - ACC-CG (only need 1 Duke loss)
--Pitt to beat GaTech - ACC-CG

Week 14 - Final week:
--TN to beat Vandy - CFP
--LSU to beat OK - CFP (only need 1 OK loss)
--Stanford to beat ND - CFP (only need 1 ND loss)
--Kansas to beat Utah - CFP (only need 1 Utah loss)
--Auburn to beat Alabama - CFP
----------

--VaTech to beat UVa - ACC-CG
--Cal to beat SMU - ACC-CG (need 2 SMU losses)
--Wake to beat Duke - ACC-CG (only need 1 Duke loss)

For ACC purposes, the above outcomes would leave 4 teams tied with 6-2 ACC records, GaTech, UVa, Pitt, and Miami.

A&M is going to utterly squash Texas. It’s going to be like a Sid Vicious WCW squash match.
Yeah I am baffled that anyone could think Texas would beat TAMU. That would be a massive upset. Texas has proven time and time again they are not a good team at all. Media trying to “speak it into existence” that they could beat TAMU is weird.

It makes perfect sense.

If you look at each team ranked ahead of Miami, none of them have losses as double digit favorites to high school teams in a high school league.

Perception = reality.

Yet again, our Miami Hurricanes have only themselves to blame.

One thing nobody has taken into consideration is the commitee using last years first round playoff drubbings as a learning lesson. Those first round games were all massive massive blowouts and embarrassing for the committee. Some of those teams just didn’t belong and I don’t think the committee will make that mistake again. They will put in the 12 best teams that have proven they can play in primetime and give competitive matchups. For example, A team like BYU had there shot..they got embarrassed by Texas Tech. Why would the committee give them a 2nd shot to get embarrassed again? A team like Vandy..played one legit team in Texas..and lost.

I’m not saying this gets us in..but these conversations will be had when they start sorting through all the 10-2 teams and definitely could work in our favor.

Big asks regarding the ND scenario 🙏

I think miami finds itself in the top 10 this week in the CFP.

the committee doesn't need to go in order each week. they can rank it however they want.

Syracuse to beat ND.

Season 2 Lol GIF by Insecure on HBO
In the words of 1Lt Dan Taylor, sometimes you gotta pray and ask.

A problem for us was the first rankings came out right after our second loss and the committee put us behind a bunch of teams we have a better resume than, assuming we were spiraling (vandy, Utah, etc). That also left enough space between us and ND that they H2H didn’t matter. Now we have to jump those teams that keep winning.

If Bama is ahead of ND, I think we have a shot to overtake them if we both finish 10-2. But my expectation is they’ll put Bama behind ND and ahead of us to keep enough distance that the H2H still isn’t a factor at the end of the season.

I hope you’re right but they’ve shown that they don’t respect the ACC at all. I also have flashbacks to when bama was ahead of us last year even though we had 1 fewer loss just because they’re bama
