MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

So what happens if BYU loses to Cincy? Wouldn't BYU have to stay ahead of Utah? So would both BYU and Utah drop even after Utah wins this weekend?

I actually thought about that as I posted this post above. But I was already into it and figured it would be a good follow up discussion. Thanks for playing along. lol

I guess the big difference is that we dont get the week off. I'm thinking we'd be better off getting a bye week and play all road games in the post season than have to play an extra game (ACC-CG) and no bye week.

Edit: Is there still also a possibility that Miami could play in and win the ACC CG against a 3-4 loss team, get the automatic bid and still not be in the top six? That would truly be the nightmare scenario. Extra game, no week off, AND no home playoff game.

Everyone gets at least one week off after the championship games. Army-Navy is the only game on December 13th. The first round of the playoffs start December 19th.

If USC beats oregon USC will be in playoff and Oregon should be out.

SMU was ranked 8th and had one loss entering conference champ game not at all the same.

It would require BYU/Utah beating ttu and then asking if Ttu should be in. Which they probably would be.
USC isn’t jumping Miami. Mercies are very close across the board They will be ahead of Oregon though for sure

Hope you’re right. I think if Pitt beats GTech then we kill VTech and Pitt, and then SMU wins out and beats UVA in ACC CG we would have a shot at being above Oregon/USC. But I very much disagree that they wouldn’t have USC jump us this week if they beat them. I guarantee what would happen is USC would jump BYI+Utah and we’d still be stupidly behind both

ACC should grow some balls and say it is preparing a lawsuit against the playoff committee for acting in bad faith to keep Miami out. It is clear they put Utah at 12 so that they would have a buffer team- since Miami is 4 spots away at 13, they don’t have to “cluster” Miami with ND, where head to head would come into play. If I am the ACC commissioner and/or Miami AD, I would want a guarantee that if Miami wins out, it will be clustered with ND. Now if that means ND also gets kicked out, so be it. But it is absolutely bad faith and manipulation to put ND in and not Miami. Either both get in, Miami gets in, or both are out.
The Utah **** is hilarious

💯
USC WILL jump us w a road win at Oregon
I think we need Oregon to blow them out
And make NDs signature win look less significant

Very losable game for the ducks. And I agree with you. We need usc and Vandy to lose for different reasons. They’ll jump us if they beat a ranked Tennessee I bet

It’s interesting how the committee is obsessed with who teams lost to instead of who they defeated. So according to playoff committee logic

if team A beat the #1 team in the country, won all the rest of the games except for one loss to an unranked team

team B’s best win was over a #17 team and then they got blown out by the #8 team,

Team B would be ranked above team A because they had the “better loss.”

Brohm is smart. If his backs are out, he’s going to throw the ball 50 times against SMU, and they’re far worse against the pass than the run. That Louisville defense is legit.

As I type this, I just saw the line now moved to SMU -3. As I said, ****.
