MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

Both can be correct. We want more than one scenario
SMU losing wouldn’t help us, they would win tiebreaker. The two 1 loss ACC teams we can pass by tiebreaker with a loss, are UVA and GT.

So right now, we beat Pitt and UVA loses, we are in ACCCG against SMU.

Notwithstanding our chances for an at large.

Question

Bama ranked 10
BYU 11
Miami 12

Bama loses to Auburn
Miami beats Pitt
BYU loses to Texas Tech

Who gets that 10th
Spot?
I think if we win next week and Bama loses we jump to 10 and BYU stays at 11 to make them have to win their conference to get in. But if they did beat Tech we'd slide down because no way they'll drop out Texas Tech in a conference game loss.

Miami beats Pitt.

Week 14 - Final week:
--Tennessee to beat Vandy - CFP
--LSU to beat OK - CFP
--Stanford to beat ND - CFP
--Kansas to beat Utah - CFP (FRIDAY)
--UCF to beat BYU - CFP
--Auburn to beat Alabama - CFP
----------

--VaTech to beat UVa - ACC-CG
--Cal to beat SMU - ACC-CG
--Wake to beat Duke - ACC-CG

For ACC purposes, the above outcomes would leave 5 teams tied with 6-2 ACC records, GaTech, UVa, Pitt, SMU, and Miami.

That means out of conference Ws and Ls will take precedence. And, if we beat Pitt we’ll get favorable looks.

So, you are saying that the following from CBS is not accurate?

Miami reaches ACC Championship Game if ...

  1. Beats Virginia Tech and Pitt
  2. Virginia beats Virginia Tech
  3. Pitt beats Georgia Tech, Duke beats North Carolina, SMU beats Louisville
  4. Cal beats SMU, Wake Forest beats Duke
In this scenario, Virginia (7-1 in ACC) and Miami (6-2) go to Charlotte with four-way tiebreaker advantages over Georgia Tech/Pitt/SMU.

Miami beats Pitt.

GA Tech thought they got a whipping tonight. UGA with their improved offense will roll them.

Miami beats Pitt.

Why do we need all the ACC teams to have 2 losses?

What happens if SMU has 1 loss but everybody else has 2? Or if UVA has 1 loss and everybody else has 2?

we need SMU to lose or everyone else to be tied with us, they own the tiebreaker over us

We get in over uva but Duke could have a tie breaker over us depending how the games play out so we want them to lose too

That’s two weeks ago. No longer relevant.

It’s simple now, beat Pitt, UVA loses. We play SMU in ACCCG.

Duke has 2 ACC loses and no wins against the tiebreaker teams. They are out if the first two above occur.
