The Work: Practice 1 recap and quotes

Excited to see this defense. We have a chance to have a really good defense, have a little depth on the line finally and if we can avoid injuries at lb and the secondary can be really good

I agree but the thing is we can't afford any injuries especially at CB and LB. That is a nice looking starting 11 though with good depth on the DL. We really cannot have Shaq, Pink, Grace, Elder or Redwine go down for any significant length of time.

Anyone that says we don't have the talent to win 10 games is nuts. We're going to shock the college football world this year.

I love all 3. Quarterman, Pinckney and McCloud are the best trio of freshman linebackers in the nation. Next year when Grace is play on Sunday, McCloud will move into a starting spot and they will become the Bermuda Triangle part 2. They have the ability to be that good.

It's articles like this that get me really excited and lets me know the season is right around the corner!!!!! This stuff gives me a stiffy!

I'm waiting till the pads go on. Sure the Coaches know who the top guys are already, but things will shake up once the hitting starts.

**Sophomore defensive lineman R.J. McIntosh described Miami’s defensive scheme as “a big race to the quarterback”.

“They want us to keep fighting forward – it’s more aggressive,” he added.

Music to my ears. Meet me at the QB brothers. That is the best looking front seven I have seen here is years and years. Bing so long since we attacked the QB, the noles staff will not have an memories of preparing for it.

Hope you don't mind Papa Shaq!

Amen. Dude is Ray's NFL size already, not that skinny thing Lewis started out like. The thought of him behind and attacking Miami front 4 almost brings tears of joy to my eyes. Can't wait for his first "Vanover" hit.

The Legend Continues...

"CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman wide receiver Sam Bruce made his presence known in his first official practice as a Hurricane.

Bruce, a four-star recruit from St. Thomas Aquinas, hauled in a long touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Jack Allison, also a four-star recruit, in Thursday’s practice.

Bruce is working in at flanker and in the slot as he looks to make an immediate impact this season."

Marquez Williams gonna be my new favorite player.

:q3XKXeX:

He's gonna blow kids up

We may finally have our "Mr. Automatic" on 3rd and 1. Back when I was at UGA, Richt had a FB named Southerland - it seemed like every 3rd and short they'd just give him a quick-hitter up the gut and he'd push the pile forward and convert. Really hope to see that here instead of the ever-popular "double-TE-reverse-jump-pass..."

Bobby Bowden was always big on the FB dive in short yardage. When you only need a foot or so, why bother taking the extra time to give it to a deep back?

Most people are getting hyped up about Shaq (and with good reason.)

I am more hyped up about a 280 pound FB who is a tank. Especially in Goal line and short yardage situations.
No more spreading teams near the one yard line and going backwards settling for FGs.

I was thinking the same thing.

And that's the thing I want to see - sure, we might still get stuffed on 3rd and short sometimes, but I want to see LOGIC and PACING in the offensive playcalling again.

UM fans love a FB and a walkon. You'd think this was Nebraska or Michigan circa 1979.

Williams should help at times. But I'd rather have an extra playmaker on the field more often. Every play that extra OL Williams is on the field is a play that Herndon or the great Sam Bruce or some other TD maker is on the sideline.
