The Work 7-24

Theirs game speed and speed out of pads. He has football speed and I believe that was a bad run in the 40. Quan usually low 4.6 or in 4.5 range. But his instincts is what makes him what he is. Watched him play since he was a freshman at Killian. He has a nose for the ball. You can't teach what he does, he's natural. Reminds me of Reed, Reed wasn't the fastest either, but his instincts were off the charts.

Whoever made the silly comment on Jaquan, you obviously don't watch too much football if you think Jaquan is a JAG. Blustein who's been watching high school ball for a long time has him as the best prospect in south Florida and I totally agree.

You don't need to run a sub 4.4 to be a great player.

Jaquan seems like one of those recruits that we can fully convince by beating FSU. I remember we were looking good for Nick O Leary until FSU pulled our panties down and bent us over at home. it was ball game after that.

I would rather compete with FSU then Alabama/LSU. At least you don't have the duffle bag effect.

Also as for rankings. Watch how much Scarlett moves up as the recruiting process goes. Bet he will be a 5 on some sites with a good season. They have enough reason for it with measurables at 5'11" 210, 4.30 forty yard dash, that's rare.

Me personally I just don't want to see Pete to the way of so many other insiders. Making claims, acting like a **** if they get questioned, and then not having the decency to say "hey my bad".

But this should be all about Gray. If you've followed him you can see what this would mean to him and his family. Life changing. I'm pulling for him and his family hardcore, and not just because he's a beast of a football player

I agree 100%. Have said it before. Will say it again.

Which is why I have no problem giving him credit for good "work" and criticizing him when he is a ****, baby, genron ********** or effeminate with his stay tuned or listen to your boy tag lines.

All that said, I am absolutely thrilled for Gray if he makes it. A signing day emotional response that I will not forget any time soon.

Quan is the absolute key to the class, period. I've said it a million times. Not only is he the instinctive ballhawk that makes key plays when your team needs them, but he is the type of in-your-face leader we haven't had...especially on defense.

So why would he come here! Why would Quan Johnson come to Miami when 90% of the board wants AL fired and the other 10% can't wait to see us flop this season.

The last name Johnson has produced well at the U. We need his name on a U jersey. He will look and play better.

FSU doesn't use duffle bags you are correct, they prefer backpacks

Pete, I tried to tell you on Gray for months. I have it on good authority that this was a special request by Golden to the Admin. No bull****. Gray would have had no chance under Shannon. This is the payoff for the goodwill Golden has built up with boss (queue the mope squad).

**Carlton Davis is set to announce on August 12th. Davis is near the top of Miami's board at corner and they are absolutely enamored with the physicality he brings to the position. The thought of him lined up opposite Artie Burns is scary. As far as Miami's chances, I'm told that he has not made his decision yet but the Canes are hopeful.

I'd be surprised if they ever lined up together. Burns will be a true JR and davis a True FR.

Otherwise, great stuff, Pete.

Miami wants them to be on the field at the same time.

They may want to but it most likely won't happen. It would require Davis either starting or playing as a nickel as a true freshman. That probably won't happen. There's an outside chance it may happen Burns' senior year but that depends on whether or not Burns stays all 4 years and Davis becomes a starter his true soph year. Again, that's 4 years from now.

Good job Pete, but bull**** is bull****. You never said Gray would be a long shot, you said he would never qualify and actually were kind of a **** about it.

The part about Walton is what gets me. That's one kid that I don't want to lose no matter what.

Yeah, I'm with you but this is the same common mistake all these recruiting gurus make. They hoist their flag up on a perspecitve based on some lukewarm third hand intel and ride with it. Bakas used to do this stuff all the time and he'd get called out on it. His reaction would do some mealy mouthed backtrack or load up the qualifiers, or even in some instances, flat out deny.

this is all I needed to see about Gray to want him here

Our offense is good now but in a couple of years when Kaaya, Lawson, or Allison get their feet wet at QB, and you have players like Scarlett, Cronkite, Yearby, Gray, Berrios, Spence(6'3),Brady(6'3), Langham(6'5) Gosier(6'6), Njoku(6'4), Bruce, Mullins, Snelson, Dobard, and a fullback that has track speed in Walter Tucker this offense will be untouchable. Stacy Coley barring injury will be in the NFL after the 2015 season so i want include him in this list. Trayon Gray and Alex Collins has some of the best high school film that I have ever seen in an athlete. Gray's film was so impressive I needed to see him for myself last year against a stout BTW defense and even though Carol city didn't score I was impress at the way Gray was able to run away from them on several plays.

You can't be serious. I'll tell you what, those boys who own some property in Tallahassee, including one who is a central figure in a famous book, pay TOP dollar to get their lawns cut during the summer ;)

does gray still project as a running back? and does it look like he'll play this season?

Losing Jaquan Johnson would hurt. No other way to put it.

NEED

He's only 5' 10" and ran a 4.75 at the opening... TE's are going to have a field day with him...

Heck, the ŁB's were running faster that and the entire set of WR's was faster than that too at the opening...

Question - Can the kid actually put on 20 to 30 more lbs and get faster?

I love to keep kids local, but???

As for FSU, he most likely a backup plan, but whatever.

I have known Quan for some years and one thing I can tell you is he is one of those kids that doesn't run the 40 well at all but his on field speed is great and is always in the right spot at the right time. 40 times do not tell the true story on a kids speed. I always look at the 10 yard splits because that's more realistic for game speed.

I remember a Cane at safety that wasnt all that fast but just made plays. He is on his way to Canton soon. Jaquan is a must, we cannot lose a talent like him at position of need this cycle, plus we cant keep losing lifetime Canes to other programs. He is a must.
