The Work 12-18

I remember reading somewhere that Goss may now be in the 275-280 range which is excellent. Between Hillery (enrolled at roughly 305 pounds), KL Herbert (almost 300), George Brown Jr. (around 300) and John Campbell (almost or just over 300)... we should be able to find some quality depth. That’s not even counting the likelihood that Donaldson moves to RT and St. Louis to LT as DMoney has alluded to.

Goss looks to be from Lowndes County. That's South Georgia. I think there would have to be extenuating circumstances for a kid from South Georgia to pick UM over a SEC school like Auburn. Maybe Richt is that circumstance. LOL

Deejay, Zalontae, and Chris say hi...

I'll give you Dallas. Hillery was a sleeper. That kid didnt have bigtime offers. And Chris who? Surely you don't mean Herndon.

if we're looking at taking another offensive lineman, then why a project? why not go hard after a better prospect?

Goss isn’t your normal “project”. He would be a highly rated 4* if he wasn’t 265...his issue is his weight and if he was 290-300 pounds coming in, he would be a day 1 starter.

That's a big "if." At 265 he probably lacks the strength to play the position and he might get pushed around.

Not saying he can't develop, but it's a risk at a position we're already thin at.

I agree....Goss looks like another redshirt candidate to me....a kid like Barnes already big and strong looks more like a early contributor....IMO

We gotta remember Navaughn Donaldson’s don’t grow on trees. Sh##, Kia Herbert would have been a top 5 OL in this years class and he didn’t help year one. Can’t expect to bring in no day One OL every year. Too many schools for that. Identify the projectable ones and stock pile. Just like pitchers in baseball.

I grew up about 30 minutes north of Valdosta High. Just a little fun fact I remember from my time there:

"Valdosta High School is home to the winningest high school football program in the United States, with a record 918 wins, 227 losses, and 34 ties, for a winning percentage of 79.44% as of November 20, 2015. From 1913-2016, the Wildcats have won six national championships in football, 24 state championships, and 42 regional championships."

It was once referred to as Winnersville USA.

Yep. I went to college (VSU) there. Still referred to as Winnersville. As a matter of fact, the annual rivalry game vs. Lowndes is still called, The Winnersville Classic

I’m from Albany Ga. I remember the wildcat vs Vikings games extremely well. I was a blazer in my life at one point believe I‎t or not lol.

Wednesday cannot come soon enough. Coaches just keep battling. That list of EEs is really amazing. We're locking down 75% of our class while FSU and UF are scrambling to get 25%. The view from the front is absolutely better than the view from behind.

p.s., I really hope Reed signs early. I think he'll be incredible for our power game with a couple more years of S&C.

Exactly why Miami needs to recruit more studs at the position...can't keep going after 3 year projects....IMO. I do believe there are several kids like Gaynor flying under the radar....gotta find them cuz they don't usually attend camps...

Dumb. Ol is the one position where you can't just recruit like a star *****. It's the most unpredictable position to recruit for. You just need to evaluate as best as you can without regard to stars and also flood the unit with numbers to make sure you can cobble together a legit 8 man rotation. We should never have less than 16 ol.

Who said anything about stars?

Agreed. **** I'd take both Goss and Barnes if we could get them.

Can't answer as I've seen neither play live. All I know is we need way more quality depth at a number of positions (including OL). Our staff did a great job this year with very limited quality depth at RB, TE, OL, and LB. Take 27-28 recruits this year and get that roster close to or at the 85 limit.

William Barnes is the OL i would love to add to this class

Yes sir. Any offensive lineman coming from Apopka is going to be well-coached. Barnes can contribute immediately.

I have to agree that **** peckerwood Darlington can coach his redneck *** off and develop some players!

I get you but the point of my post was that there just aren’t enough players of that caliber every year to expect any team to stock pile 5 Star OL. Last year was a great year and we took advantage. This year is really weak. Just look at the craze over a OL who never played football in Faelele at IMG. In a good year he’s an after thought. These kinds of years you have to really scout and identify potential.

Goss has first round NFL draft upside. The dude reminds me a lot of Tremayne Anchrum who came into Clemson as an "under sized OT" and will now be a round 1 pick next year or the year after. Note, Tremayne currently plays at 290lbs. You don't HAVE to be 310+ if you've got legit feet.

Close with Samuel and Campbell at DB, Ezzard at WR, Goldwire and Chatfield at DL and Goss at OL and that is an ELITE class at every single position. Surtain would then just be icing on the delicious chocolate cake that is #Storm18

When you look at this recruiting class so far, the coaching staff is really assembling top flight talent. But just as important as the talent, it looks like they are assembling top flight competitors who are going to restore UM football to the pinnacle of college football. There is no doubt in my mind that we will be competing for championships soon.

Think about this: We won 10 games in Richt's 2nd year relying on quality minutes from the likes of Rozier, Gauthier, Mahoney, Langham, Knowles, Charles Perry and Mike Smith. These are guys who would never receive a UM offer under Richt. But Richt still got a 10-win season with talent a few rung below his standards.

Wait until our roster is full of the talent like the 2017 and 2018 classes. Next year, you will start to see the weekly domination of opponents that Richt is still searching for. We were scrappy and resilient and eeked out some wins this past season. Next year, we will paste teams. And by 2019 with a 3-deep roster full of 2nd and 3rd stringers who could start on 90% of the CFB teams, we will be playing for the Natty.

Ohio State or Michigan wins the 2019 Natty.

Go back to the baseball board and start **** over there.
