we've run this play very lightly with great results the last two games. I believe we ran it first vs VT two/three times with duke getting a big run with some other nice runs.

THen vs UNC a little more

You guys think this will be part of the gameplan vs FSU even more?

Wait. FSU has an actual defensive coaching staff. They WILL be ready for that trick play. I love plays with the ball in Duke's hands but I doubt it will work this week. We are going to have to beat them straight up. Staff does not have the ability to out coach them. We have best running back on the field, a smarter QB, best LBs on field, and maybe a better Oline. Offense has to old ball for long drives and score TDs, not field goals. When they start stacking the box to stop THE DUKE, then staff has to let Kaaya throw over middle to TEs, slot and RBs. Dorsett took top off last year's FSU defense, he should be good for one this year too. Defense needs to bring pain to Rapist very play regardless of what it is. He is unstable. Hit him enough and he will snap.

Yeah and there coaching staff hasn't been great this year....

We will definitely see it at least once and if its successful, I think they work it in more. Duke in space is a good thing, even if its with a direct snap. Not sure I would call this a trick play either.

Wait, so now VT doesn't have a defensive staff? Ok. I don't think its a trick play either but whatever.

I'd like to see them trot out all OL and TE + Duke... see what the criminoles think about that.

Stupid and Bush League.

Slap yourself.

The offensive and defensive playbook will be wide open for this
Game. Plus we all know james loves him some trick plays.

Interesting to see if he does look to throw it, IIRC Kaaya is left uncovered almost every time they line up in that formation

wasn't dorsett injured in the UNC game right before FSU? they haven't had to defend the new and improved dorsett. should call a bomb or two. it's worked well for the other teams that competed against FSU.

I always flash back to when Darren McFadden almost took down Tebow's gators single-handedly from the wildcat. He was the best player in football that year and deserved the Heismann. I would love to see Duke do the same thing, except with the win.

I don't think it is a gimmick, I think it creates a chance for Duke to evaluate the hole and hit it hard. I never have a problem with putting the ball in your best player's hands and seeing what happens. My only issue is that it creates a matchup problem for us because it is essentially a one-dimensional set and FSU has too much speed to let much develop out of it.
