That's exactly what they don't need to do. One of the many problems we've got is that for years players have been better at imagining themselves on the great teams than working like those guys did. They all think they're going to bring us back but they don't have the hunger. They see the flash and dancing, but not the workd..All that video will do is make them waste time they could be working.
Totally agree. IF you're going to bring back up the past—it needed to be done properly, the more Miami gets away from that dominant era.
Honestly, whether it's an Alonzo Highsmith—or someone else with deep-rooted ties to the program—all Miami football players should be required to take a "The U: 101" type, one-credit course as freshmen, where they spend their first semester getting a proper education regarding UM's football history. Bring in former players as guest speakers, et al.
These current kids weren't even alive for the last national title—let alone the 1980's when this thing was built. The sport has changed tremendously over the past two decades—with current kids only having a limited view of what Miami football truly is, what the responsibility of being a Hurricane means—the outside perception that comes, as well as realizing legacies need to be created; can't live off the past.
Take this current quarterback room and all these recent stories about guys being checked out, smoking weed, acting like fools—as well as preferential treatment given due to the issues at the position (re: Williams getting to come in for Perry at Pitt after skipping practice that week, Martell getting to play in bowl game despite two leaves of absence within a month's time).
These guys all hear about Miami being "QUARTERBACK U" back in the day and feel they're somehow part of some elite fraternity, despite not doing **** on their own to create their own legacies.
You can't just show these current kids highlights of yesteryear and expect them to get what's going on. This is bigger than them and their entitled, egotistical teenage brains can handle. They need a true understanding of what's really going on here.
