Welcome back to “The Watsco Watch,” where Kamdyn and I bring you the latest on Miami Hurricanes recruiting and the transfer portal.

We’ve got several updates to give you guys since the first time we reported on this, so sit back, your favorite show and news source is back.

Let’s get into it.

What I'm hearing

- Miami just hosted a pair of transfer portal recruits in Kansas forward transfer Bryson Tiller and Georgia center Somto Cyril. Tiller wants to start wherever he lands in college, so from what I’m hearing, he is not likely to come to Miami and is currently set to visit Missouri next. Miami just landed Somto yesterday.

- I haven’t heard much on Acaden Lewis, but I still feel like Miami is in a good spot to land the former four-star recruit and Villanova transfer. He visited around this time last year, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up committing somewhere without visiting Miami again. A commitment could come soon.

- Miami will host Colorado center Bangot Dak. He will also visit Oregon, SMU, and Vanderbilt. Kamdyn has everything you need to know on him HERE: Hearing Vanderbilt and Cincinnati are in the lead for him.

- Since we last spoke, the Hurricanes coaching staff has contacted many recruits in the portal such as McNeese transfer Tyshawn Archie, FAU transfer Isaiah Elohim, Marshall transfer Dunk Joseph, and Villanova guard transfer Bryce Lindsey, who is also a teammate of Acaden Lewis.

- I'm hearing Jaland Lowe will go to Georgetown.

I am very interested to see how jai completely flips this roster for the 2nd year in a row. Great start with Ciryl. Hopefully Lewis next. Then it will be really interesting to see where jai & staff take it
Luckily there’s some bones to build from and move forward with. Getting Henderson to come back as quickly as he did is a huge step in getting some quality guys to believe in the vision.

I dont get the Tiller "wants to start" comment. Was UM offering him a backup job instead of starting alongside Somto?

Would be a weird pitch considering Jai's pitch to Reneu was to have a big like Ideh next to him.
Tiller and Reneau are different players. Malik was a multi-year starter and double digit scorer at Indiana. Tiller is talented but less of a proven commodity. Not saying that Caleb is proven but if Tiller is asking for a f*ck ton of NIL I'd rather roll with Caleb at the 4 and plug holes elsewhere.

Not much else “elsewhere” given we already seem locked into Lewis for the PG and already have our 6th man in D Allen. Only other spot is SG, and we aren’t big game shopping there (Blackwell). IMO we need both a transfer 3 and D SG and a starting PF.

Money/NIL is a different reason and strategy. The post said he wanted to start, which insinuates that he was offered or looked at as a bench role. If staff decided Tiller was not worth the ask, fine...but the insinuation of the OP comment was not a monry issue but a role issue.

Yes, Reneau was a different player, but Tiller is clearly a starting caliber player who played next to a true Center at Kansas.

Have we made contact with Paul McNeil from NCSU? Started 32 games and shot 42.7% off 7.2 threes a game. IMO he would be the ideal sharpshooter next to Lewis (should we land him).
