Steve Walsh was a perfect example. He's the only WQAM employee in the last 15 years who covered the Canes who was worth a **** to listen to. He called a spade a spade, albeit with a much more "politically correct" approach but nevertheless he didn't go on ridiculous rants like Don Bailey Jr does.

I'm sorry...but a happy medium exists. The issue is those 2 ******** wouldn't know what that happy medium looked like if it fell from the heavens and landed on their heads.

They don't get paid to air their opinions, they get paid to support the present coaches whoever they may be and whatever they may do.

I really don't get how this is a problem. Why would you expect them to do anything else? And honestly, why would you care? Is your position somehow more true if those clowns agree?

I don't have an issue with them not criticizing the coaches because they are paid to be shills.....however, by the same token, no reason for them to insult fans who are critical of coaches....they are not paid for this....hence, they're being aholes.

I doubt Blake would favor talking heads, voices of UM Athletics, to crap on people that they rely on for support.....that reeks of incredulity, but then this is UM athletics.

Yeah, I have no idea. I do know there are enough people who bear actual responsibility for this mess to be mad out without stringing these two up. Personally, I find them both annoying af, I just have an overdeveloped sense of justice.

Most teams' announcers are no different-- paid shills. There is a certain percentage of teams' fan bases, however, that NEVER want to hear any objectivity whatsoever. In effect, between the pressure from the school to pump up the program and thin-skinned fans, the announcers are in a quandary.

The last time I ever listened to them was during the broadcast of that bowl game we had against Cal way back during the Shannon era. Shannon made the now infamous blunder of calling a timeout on an incomplete pass in the 4th quarter of a 1 possession game during the 2 minute drill.....and DBJ went on a 45 second rant during the timeout about how it was "the right thing to do".

Yeah, sorry.....but I can't get on board with the logic in this thread. If you don't respect yourself, no one else will.

They take it a level beyond that corporate kiss *** level we all mock in movies like Office Space. The worst part about it is I'm pretty sure DBJ has money....doesn't he own a tile company? If so, that's even more pathetic.....it's not like he's kissing *** to put food on the table for a family of 8.
