Please give me some guidance on what my expectations should be..

PLEASE!!! Let me know, should I no longer expect a winning product? Should my 2 kids expect the same product that has existed for their whole lives? Please, let us know so that we can manage accordingly.. Manage our expectations, assess the college athletics environment and let us know you are no longer capable of competing at the level I saw the first 30 years of my life..stop pulling the wool over my eyes if you know that this is the result that you expect, because I don't and most fans don't so you're creating resentment...just come out with a press release detailing what has changed that has made your ability to compete at a high level so difficult...

And if not, and you do believe you can return to championship caliber athletics, PLEASE, do plucking something about the current sad state of affairs god dammit !!!!

YES, THIS!! i agree 100% The university is making an investment, but how big of one needs to be articulated. If were cool with a winning percentage above .500 and a graduation rate close to 100 being a successful season, thats fine just let me know so i can stop looking like such a jackass. i fear this problem goes way beyond coach golden, and if thats the case all hope is lost.

The standard is that UM field an elite team capable of winning a national title nearly every year. Anybody who doesn't want to hold UM to that standard is a detriment to the program.

I can't believe that you manage your life around UM football. How old are you? First 30 years of your life? I've been watching UM football since 1954 so I guess I just take some of this in stride. Yeah, I was disappointed tonight. People around me know I get in a zone whenever I'm getting set to watch a UM game, but I just move on. As much as I've loved UM football over the years, and have been on an incredible high for much of the period between 1983 and 2001, I have never had to make it my whole life. I don't know of any program that has consistently been at the pinnacle every year for decades, not even Alabama, not Notre Dame, not USC.

We have so many things working against us, despite the very fertile home recruiting area. Smaller budget, less booster money, tougher academic standards, etc. Better get used to the fact we can't be great every single year. I agree with most--it looks like Golden is not the guy. We're probably going to lose more than we did last year, so he might be lucky to get another year. I'd bet he's gone after this year.

Get used to the fact we're not going to be at the top of the hill every single year. That much I knew when we moved to the ACC, which is a much tougher conference than we played in when we won our championships. I was one of the few who did not favor the move.

We won one title while playing in a conference. The schedule we played the year we won a title playing in a conference was substantially easier than any of our other schedules when we won titles as an independent. Second, that's a nice spiel about life lessons, but this guy never said that he "managed [his] life around UM football."

brother ur older than me, from the ages of 8-27 I saw UM win 9 national championships, get phucked out of 3 more, and warren morrissed out of 1 more, so I will never have your perspective, but I do know what is possible here, its just that if things have changed, but the University continues to market the greatness with what seems no intention of fulfilling it nor doing the things necessary to continue; Al Golden would of been fired from any top 20-30 program after yesterday,

This is my point, are we hoping for this with no chance? Is there something about how the school has changes that would make this impossible? Thats what I need to know, so I can step away from being a Club Member and a Green level donor.. I just need to know, and yes I have emailed my questions already

You know what the truly sad thing is, it isn't like this team is void of talent. Our coaching staff just ***** the bed every Saturday then makes dumb *** excuses as to why we lost. I look at Michigan, they just have no talent and a bad coach. And it shows. But when we line up on Saturday we have an offense and a defense littered with talented guys who are constantly put in ignorant situations. That's what is the most frustating part, we have more than enough talent to blow each and every team we play out. But our gameplans, playcalling and coaching decisions are easily one of, if not the worst, in college football.

"[T]op of the hill every single year"? That's the strawman argument of the year.

We have not even been relevant in CFB for a decade. People are fed up bc this staff and its predecessor have been utterly incompetent. Is it not reasonable to expect competent coaching?

Every school goes through this. Alabama was a non entity for over a decade hashing through coaches. We will find an OK coach. What we wont find is a home....and that is what worries me.

I said it then and say it again, the stadium is a huge issue and the loss of the Orange Bowl was a catastrophic.

If they don't hire Butch when he's ripe for the taking I'm done with college football.
