The UNC game is going to be tougher than they appeared pre-season

Stop it.

They barely beat a 4-8 team

Good lord the amount of vagness is becoming unbearable w Miami fans lately. And believe me. I LIKE vaginas.

But get a hold of yourselves. You’re acting like we’re wake forest.

THANK YOU😂, we almost beat UF with a young O-line, idk why us cane fans are even worried about UNC

All those straight up the middle pressures and TFLs just tackled your comment.

Whoops.

They brought more than we can block. Your point is still asinine. Interior played well.

Delayed and green dog blitzes have to be recognized by QB.Nothing an engaged lineman can do

😂, we’re not the 80’s hurricane but we’re still going to defeat you

We were trying to contain him, so he doesn’t run out of the pocket

Yeah Garvin was basically Spying him but schematically it’s mostly quick throws so it’s harder to get to him. I did notice that once you take his primary away on play action/zone reads he get speed up in the pocket and will take some big hits.

Exactly, remember Sam Howell is a true freshman, decent but easily rattled.

No kidding. Strength of schedule is an obsession of idiots. You can basically laugh at anyone who presents it as a serious theme.

There are very consistent talent levels and tiers within these conferences. Small step ladder gaps. Merely because some teams are apparently trending upward and others are in transition/chaos doesn't mean the bottom line talent level realities have changed. That near-parity in talent level allows countless examples of upsets by teams that the public believes are noticeably weaker, but are actually on the same basic plateau.

Don't allow late draft pick status to be a fooler. That is an ongoing variable toward this flawed perception. The power rating gap between players drafted in the 5th to 7th round and ones who barely go undrafted is next to nothing. That is glaring when you look at sources like Ourlads which provide a numerical number for each prospect. To use their numerical range, the Canes might have a 3.86 player drafted late, while a 3.49 player from North Carolina goes undrafted.

The moderators and administrators here may put together fancy charts and threads using NFL status as a guideline, but always keep in mind how fragile those numbers are. The Canes won't have legit separation until our players are routinely lined up in the green room, competing against each other toward first round bragging rights. Otherwise we are relying on the always wonderful outlier status of being a moderately talented team that makes a serious run at national honors.

Here is Jeff Sagarin's appraisal of the ACC Coastal. This is the definition of parity. Every team is in that broad Crowd category of 30th to 60th in the country. Every team has a Sagarin power rating in the 70s. For reference, the elite teams are always in the low to mid 90s and national championship caliber teams are upper 90s to early 100s.

That's why I have posted repeatedly that subjectivity and adjustment means next to nothing. The Canes don't have separation within the ACC Coastal until the power rating rises at least 7-10 points, and we don't have national legitimacy until it rises at least 12-15 points. And even a 15 point bump places us basically where Ohio State and Oklahoma are now, and not on Clemson/Alabama level.

Keep in mind that when we joined the ACC we were favored by low 20s on the road in games like this. Now it is -6:

31 Miami-Florida A = 79.31
40 Virginia Tech A = 77.08
42 Virginia A = 75.70
43 Pittsburgh A = 75.62
48 Duke A = 74.46
58 Georgia Tech A = 73.32
63 North Carolina A = 72.04

Because we have a history of losing games we shouldn't lose. A long, 15+ year history of it. Until we prove differently, everything, all this "TNM", is just talk. It's time we start burying teams we should bury.

Remember all the complaining about how long the off-season was because the threads kept getting worse and worse?

Well, the past week has been longer than the offseason.
