The UNC game is going to be tougher than they appeared pre-season

I don't get thinking we'd blow them out, even pre-season. Outside of last year, where they had no QB, they've always played us tough. And we've always struggled on the road there.

They looked about what I expected. Howell is better than the garbage they had at QB last year, and their new DC is good, but I'm not sure why anyone would have thoughts otherwise. They have the 2nd most talented roster in the Coastal.

Still, South Carolina is a bad football team. They've now lost 3 in a row to ACC teams by a combined 108-55. UNC was almost asking South Carolina to put that game away in the 2nd half and instead they imploded.

We should beat UNC. But predicting a 30 point win in a road conference game was always unrealistic. The spread even coming into today was 7.

^^^THIS.

Worse North Carolina teams have given better Miami teams fits over the years; especially in Chapel Hill. Look no further than year one—2004—when No. 3 Miami lost 31-28 to an unranked Tar Heels team; a win that saved Carl Torbush's job. Butch beat Randy three years in a row before UM finally got one at home in 2010.

Last game up there in 2017, 6-0 Miami almost lost to 1-7 North Carolina—needing a forced fumble late to avoid an upset. In 2015, Miami got curb stomped 51-29 (but a good Heels team). In 2013, needed a miracle comeback on a Thursday night behind Dallas Crawford for the 27-23 win. Barely got out alive in 2011—30-24—and fell in 27-3 hole in 2009, before pulling to within six and a comeback came up short—33-24

No, this is not a good North Carolina team—but (1) worse Tar Heels teams have done better against UM and (2) this is far from a seasoned Miami team that is hitting the road Week 2, that couldn't close against Florida weeks back.

Huge early test for a young team that needs to get its sh*t together.

Won 47-10 last year with a bad o-line. And the o-line isn't bad. The tackles just had some struggles.

Miami scored three times on defense last year for 21 points. Let's not act like the offense rang them up for 47 points.

North Carolina had six turnovers and absolutely gave that game away.

Won 47-10 last year with a bad o-line. And the o-line this year might be the single worst in D1 in NCAA's history. The tackles are non existent, and the interior isn't much better.

I fixed it for you.

😬

It doesn't matter how they won. So what you think the defense going to do to a true freshmen qb? South carolina was hitting him and getting pressure and their defense is no where near miami.

Them dudes had to pull out everything they had to beat a bad usce team and now they are so good.

Exactly.

Same reason why I predicted Richt's 2018 squad would struggle against UVA.

2017 W was a D victory, not the O.

Not by any stretch.

What do you think UNC's D scheme is going to do against Miami's OL and 2d start QB?

South Caro's OL is SIGNIFICANTLY better than what Miami has right now.

Until Barry gets this fixed, I'm not sure people are grasping what a huge liability this unit is.

They are the foundation for everything on O.

Usce o-line isnt significantly better. They had a guard starting at LT who had never played tackle.

And once again. The tackles had struggles in their first start vs 2 guys who will be in the nfl and one of them being projected to go first round.

Ok. I fully support whatever helps you sleep better.

If Miami doesn’t win by 14 or more... not only will it be a travesty, but It will also be very telling of what type of season we will have. UNC played well against USC indeed, but I just don’t see them having that much success against us like that. My prediction... Miami 34 - UNC 13.
