The U vs the fake u 2027 season opener

What a let down that game was. LSU and Burrow weren’t even that good in the opener and there was so much promise heading into Dallas.

Left that game mid 3Q, trash performance and the beginning of the end for Richt / the absolute end for Rosier.
Huge let down. Dog**** performance given the expectations heading in.

Saw the Giants -Raiders game there last November. Nice stadium. Tailgate area was pretty cool. Found a few Giants fans to hang out with for a while. The bridge back over to the strip becomes a pedestrian bridge on gameday. I will stay on that end of the strip for this game. So since we were using a taxi to get to the game I was trying to figure out how to get my beer over to tailgate. So the wife goes to the gift shop buys a $25 backpack. We took the plastic bag they put it in and used that inside the backpack. Filled it with a case of beer and ice and it made a great and easy to carry cooler. Left it sitting outside the gate on the way in.
For the dallas game my hotel was right there I brought a little cooler to the tailgate then hid it in the bushes and had beer for after the game

Just thanks I'm a heads up for any Marriott members. MGM and Marriott partnered up a few months ago so you could use points or get your member rates staying at an MGM hotel in Vegas.
Thanks I'm a marriott and hyatt member I'm looking at the Rio any thought on that place

You’ve got plenty of time to find a good deal at the Venetian tbh

But I do like the one posters suggestion of staying to one end of the strip closer to where the stadium is. I like staying in the middle of the strip when we go just being centrally located, but if you’re mainly going for the game Aria or Mandalay Bay are well located

It probably doesn’t seem like much but location for what you want on the strip is huge. Its a ****ton of walking or horrific Uber fees if you’re trying to get somewhere
**** Ubers in Vegas. I’d walk to wherever I’m going everytime unless it’s from the strip to old Vegas. In March I got a ride from New York New York to Circa at 10 am and the idiot driver took the Blvd all the way there instead of taking the highway which is literally next to NYNY.

I never stayed there so unfortunately I don’t have any feedback. I’d assume you could get a pretty good deal staying there plus it’s still walking distance from the strip.

Doesnt Merriot partner with MGM? Could do ParkMGM. would probably be $25 more per night if you got a good deal and at least it’s on the strip which I’m pretty sure the Rio isn’t even. So like sure you’d save money but you’re gunna pay at least $25 round trip Uber just getting to the strip and back

think Cosmo is on there too if you wanted higher end.

Any recommendations on where to stay in Vegas? Going once between now and the game and definitely need some advice on that anyway. If it goes well I'd stay in the same place both times.

Been twice.. stayed at Harrah's and Flamingo. Definitely don't want to go to either of those again. Would rather be somewhere cheaper than the Venetian and Bellagio.

One friend is telling me Planet Hollywood and another is telling me Mandalay Bay. Any advice on those 2?
Moved there for work within the last seven weeks, but have been multiple times.

Honestly, proximity to the strip isn’t that important. I live outside the strip in West Vegas near Summerlin (which I would liken to Coral Gables of Miami I guess, just different in terms of desert vibe and mountains compared to green and humidity), and I’m still 15 min by car from there. Very easy to navigate, plus the Durango is a new modern sportsbook that’s more boujee per se and has phenomenal amenities (large pool, solid selection of dining like a Prince St. Pizza and some other options, nice bar that’s half outdoors and half covered canopy). Saw Devin Booker playing roulette a couple weeks ago lol.

Circa has been my favorite place to watch a game. Large sportsbook with at least 30 difference screens for viewing, I’m sure it’s amazing for football season. They also have Circa Swim, large outdoor pool area with massive TVs.

On the strip, Bellagio is very nice and Caesars has a great mix for the all-around experience (nice Sportsbook, $100 wager = a couple free drink tickets but that’s relatively standard around most books, the Caesars famous shops with designer brand stores and the fountains, good restaurants, etc.)

Honestly for price, MGM Grand isn’t bad for a room, it’s pretty cheap…but the sportsbook sucks for viewing and the hotel itself is usually packed. Proximity to the rest of the strip is great, however…walking distance to pretty much everything Strip-related.

Aria like @htownkidd mentioned is very good combo of a luxury feel without the astronomical price. The Wynn and Cosmopolitan is also supposed to be great, but I admittedly haven’t checked out those properties yet.

Surprisingly enough, Fontainebleau might have the overall best selection of restaurants within a hotel property and they have free parking for four hours (underrated aspect if you’re looking to dine in a casino property, those fees will add up quick if you’re driving around). Miami Slice is pretty close to the OG back home, then they have a Komodo and Papi Steak as well…Liv generates a decent crowd, but again they’re getting killed with the lack of casino traction + their sportsbook sucks. And they’re off the strip, so they miss out on business generated from people walking up and down those properties

I’ll keep updating this thread based on what I experience, as I’m pretty much learning on the fly as well. A lot of rambling but I hope it somewhat helps, and it sort of depends on what you value more.

I’ve been to both Planet Hollywood and Mandalay Bay, PH isn’t bad. Not luxurious or anything but it gets the job done, I’d go elsewhere to gamble though personally. Mandalay Bay had the whole concert shooter rap they’re getting over, but it’s nicer than PH imo.

I know I was just joking. You better off getting a better hotel I always liked the signature. I don’t know where it ranks now but that was our favorite
We were dropped off in front of TI after a tour, so we went into the lobby just to use the bathrooms.
In an instant we knew the place was not to the standards of most of the other hotels right across the street, it also did not help that there was the crime scene tape put up in the womens bathroom.

Circa is awesome. I go there for a day everytime I’m in Vegas. Imagine going there for Thursday-Friday during March Madness. I wouldn’t move from the pool.

Yes they do. Cosmo has been on the Marriott app for years now but all the other MGM hotels were just added a few months ago.

My buddy’s dad who unfortunately passed away this year would go by himself every year. Get in Thursday morning before the 11 am games (9 am in Vegas) and leave Monday morning. I’d love to do that a few times in my life. I was just there in March and left the day before the tournament began.

This time of year team USA basketball is there, the biggest AAU tournament is there, summer league, and one time we went it was a big fight. You saw everybody, NBA players, college coaches famous former boxers. People were everywhere. Imagine when they get the Oakland A’s

Went to a hockey game at the Fortress when Tampa was in town and the atmosphere was awesome. I’d definitely go see another game there. It’s nice because the soon to be 3 stadiums are all very close to each other.

Strange backpack sitting unattended by the gate.

So THAT’S why the bomb squad got called to that game.
