I like Butch and would not mind seeing him coach here. Most are aware I do not support Richt. Time to end the exaggerations on his sanctions though. The U lost 31 ships spread over 2 years. Some went to other sports. The football team lost 13 the first year. They could still have 72 on ships. The second year ths football team lost 11. They could have 75 on ships that season. Very bad yes but not 31 at once like some here insinuate in their posts. I am all for supporting him. but do not see the necessity of exaggerating when it was **** bad as it was.

Well that's strange.

I recall Soldinger saying that during those dark days - they didn't have enough players to scrimmage.

I note your assumption - 'they COULD still have 72 on ship,' and 'they COULD have 75 on ships that season.'

BUT THEY DIDN'T!

****, you guys try to re-write history all the time!

I bet if you look hard enough, you can find that Mussolini was a GREAT military mind . . .

Who’s fault is it that he could’ve fill out the roster but didn’t? Like some one said the scolly reduction was spread out. So yea it was bad. But some are over exaggerating it to boost butch

No exaggeration. It was just short of the death penalty.

Spread out? 31 over two years? On top of graduations?

Where did you learn to count?

If you ask me last 4 hcs cost more than those sanctions did.thank the university they've done what the ncaa couldn't do make the canes irrelevant.whether you like it or not when and if we do get another hc even a good one it'll take a couple years to straighten this mess out.

It’s disgusting that we played at 75 last season. I just took a look at the classes and see why. Only 9 of the 19 signed from the 2016 class are still on the roster. The WRs in that class were Bruce, Mullins, Harris, and Richards. The OL’s were Johnson and Martin. The TE’s were Haskins and Irvin. The QB was Allison. The only player currently contributing on offense from that class is Homer.

I was here when Gustafson got nailed for buying a couple of poor coal miners kids train tickets for a recruiting trip and lives through all the highs and lows since. No one person I hate more than labaturd.. One of the few people I have ever literally hated.
Most of those kids back then had never seen ocean before.

Mussolini's biggest mistake was bombing Pearl Harbor. Oh wait, that was the Germans.
Never mind.

You can find bad losses and good wins for any coach.

In year FIVE Butch lost three straight including a loss to unranked East Carolina at home then got spanked 43-10 by Virginia Tech later that season.

His last full season at Georgia Richt beat ranked Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech and Louisville.

Cherry picking is not a good measuring stick of any coach.

Excuse me, I’m sorry. Where did Butch coach b4 he came to Miami? What team did he take over?

All for all the bull chit about what he did at UNC; go see what UNC’s record was b4 Butch got there under John Bunting. Go see what team he inherited and then go back at look at his 8-5 records there.
