The true problem with Richt

The man has a great football mind. He can evaluate talent. He has been a very good recruiter over the years.
The man's problem is he is burned out. You can see it in his face. You cannot coach over 20 years at the highest levels
like he has without taking a break in todays world. To compare him to every coach since Butch is a little unfair.
I didnt want him but he is a much more accomplished than all of the priors. Honestly, it's sad to see him go out
like this. He's not a wimp, he does want to win, but he needs to face it that he's fried.

Nope!
He is stuck in a football world that doesn’t exists anymore and he refuses to adapt. That statement about a pro style offense attacking recruits is insane and evidence of just how out of touch he is.
Plus he is LAZY. The DC search and the fact he only used half the practices allowed prove that.

i had someone around UGA tell me that richt lost his edge when his wife got sick. i believe that. lets be reall the guy was a very good OC and HC early on. He is more accomplished than the previous hires but we hired him at the wrong time. hes finished.
"someone around UGA told me" .... did that "someone" also tell you if you don't eat grits your ****** will fall off ? ... SMDH

Bringing up that he was a decent head coach early on doesnt mean anyting. Bobby Brown was a great head coach early on, but it meant **** later in his career.

If you think Richt has a "great football mind", you'd fall off your chair sitting in a film room with a Belichick, McVay, or other coaches in the upper echelon. It's not a coincidence that a Chris Petersen coached Boise State team went to the Georgia Dome and made Richt and UGA his b-itch in 2011. If you are being generous, Richt has an average football mind.

Is he fired, yet?

I would like to finally see a Miami team that’s ******* feared!
It’s been so long, when we were dominant. I guess midlife crisis is kicking in. I’m still young at heart and when I love something, I give it 100%. This man is not giving his all, and at 4 million a year...

He would be a good semi-titular HC. [I know, get out your dictionaries] The "face" of Miami FB. The "schmoozer." We could then get OC's and DC's like Diaz (with their own assistants) from successful coaching trees that would cut their teeth here for 2-3 years and make a rep until they get a HC position somewhere else. We could have the kind of guy the BOT presents to the public and the kind of guys on the technical side that kick butt. We've have continuity at the top and controlled turnover inside. It's either that, or cut him loose.

I agree. He looks like a typical POTUS after serving their 4 year term.

He was fired on a Sunday and we hired him 3-4 days later. He needed a break.

eh...Imma have to respectfully disagree with everything you're preaching boss. I think you're a solid poster, and I always respect your opinion. However, this time you're a bit off on your assessment.

Richt was good only when the SEC was down.

Richt's record from 2001 - 2007 (72- 19 = 10.2 wins/yr and a .791 win pct). Richt's record from 2008 - 2015 (73 - 32 = 9.1/wins yr and a .695 win pct)

That 2012 team had a schedule that included Buffalo, a 5-7 Missouri Team, FAU, Vanderbilt (actually Vandy wasn't that bad this year at 9-4), a 5-7 Tennessee team, South Carolina, a 2-10 UK team, Florida, a 7-5 Auburn team, Georgia Southern, a 7-6 GT team.
Outside of SCe and Florida, this was a truly easy schedule. He got over the hump of beating Florida, just to lose to SCe and of course to Bama in the Championship game.

Richt has been living off his first 7 years for a minute. He's a habitual 9 win coach at most. As a matter of fact, his last eight years, he won 10+ games 4x and won less than 10 games 4x.

He may be one of the most overrated coaches, imo.

You guys are missing my point. hes a smart coach. i know kids who played for him at UGA.he wants to win. Hes a much better coach than coker shannon and golden. hes been around long enough that he should not be 7-6 in the ACC. the bottom line is he is burned out. you can see it, thats the biggest problem.

Side note, look up old posts from me, i NEVER wanted him.

Oh I know what ur saying and I know u didn’t want him here. I’m just saying dude ain’t that great of a coach. So yeah he’s burnt out, and he was burnt out at UGA, so now we have a burnt out, mediocre coach.

Being better than Coker, Shannon, or Golden is not saying much, and can I really say he’s better than Coker? Coker has a ring and was this close to winning back to back titles and had we not been Portered, it would’ve taken him 2 1/2 yrs to lose a game.

Regardless, if he’s burnt out and tired of being an underachiever, he needs to step down as the coach. If he doesn’t, then he’s proving he’s not very smart either

The true problem with Mork is that HE'S STILL HERE. Finish him!

Richt is the typical guy you see in a big company whose been there 20-30 years, did great stuff when he was younger so he moved up near the top but now is old and washed up. He refuses to change and relies on what the old way of doing things because it worked a long time ago. Doesn't respect young guys much because they don't have "15 years of experience." Seen plenty of this in my career.
