You can’t have defensive players on the field that are both slow athletically and slow to read and react. That’s what you have with any combination of Amari Carter and Gurvan Hall at safety, and Jennings and McCloud at Lber on the field.

The best way to upgrade the overall speed and talent on defense would be to move Carter to Lber and start him next to Brooks. Move Frierson to safety and start him next to Bolden. And move Gurvan Hall to striker 2nd string behind Keontra Smith.

Hall isn’t starting caliber and the defense would be much better with Keontra and Frierson on the field at the same time along side Bubba Bolden. Amari Carter is a liability at safety but would upgrade the speed at lber starting next to Sam Brooks.

LB play has been awful period. never understood how they put Carter in same sentence as B.Bolden
who was a bright spot last night JJ said it best speed kills we are slow at LB and lack guys with good read and react skills
D staff needs and overhaul as well

We are not slow at LB, the staff just playing the wrong ones

I’ve been wanting to see Amari slide to LB for like 3 years now.

Some said he doesn’t have the movements to play LB.

Well I can tell you our LBs don’t have the lateral moves to play LB either. So you might as well try it.....for an entire game and see what happens. If he gets cooked then at least you tried and can switch back to your backers.

We are far from complete. So you have got to experiment.

whats the worst that can happen? Carter gives up 4th and 17? Or a TD?

lol not like we haven’t done that before!

Start sliding quicker big hitters like him to LB. we used to move safeties up all the time.

This staff made it seem like Hall, Carter, and Bolden were all on the same level going into the season. I guess they got 2 out of 3 right.
Great calls, the main problem is not only are they mismatching to many unathletic players together, they not playing enuff of the players who have the higher football I.Q.s either. it was real patheic when coach enos already was here, and he wouldn't let the qb's nor did he have audibles in his system, talking bout a megalomaniac, but since coach diaz has been here, seems like none of our guys on defense ever recognize or call out the other teams keys when we're on defense by our linebackers. Which is the main reason our linebackers don't play fast and downhill.

Our defensive principles are just not their and while it's kind of an aggressive style of defense, they need to cease and desist that striker position, I still haven't seen what advantage it gives us, and who's getting drafted from that position.

I can tell you saw but it's only a matter of time before they won't be able to justify keeping brian balom off the field, gurvan hall is just not a playmaker back their, either he's going to make a play or not, if people think FSU is made a mistake hiring norvell and somehow we have the better coaching staff is still comical to me.

All those penalties yesterday shows what level of coaching we have, the good news is rhett lashlee definitely has to prove himself now after that inept performance.

Think about this, the bartender didn’t coach Bolden until this season. Now look at who he’s coached for 3-4 years that’s playing and tell me if you see a difference between Bolden and everyone else?

look back at the linebacker play of Spence and McCarty under Shannon/Barrow. Compared to the guys Diaz is coaching up. Big difference but the the talent is available to him in Brooks and Austin-Cave he just won’t play them consistently.

whoever coaching strikers is doing a good job. Frierson was not getting it done. He benched him for Smith, now Frierson is playing at a higher level and so is Smith. This guy gets it

Lashlee got a glimpse of what that next level of coaching is like... Vernables turned him into a coach that didn’t trust his own playbook.

Actually the staff needs to be changed first. you just named 3 positions that the coaches arent qualified for and you expect the players to overcome that.....

ROFL, I saw how unsure he was of himself, and honestly, I knew unless we hit on big plays, that playing fast bullshat wasn't gone work, once I started seeing lashlee calling plays backwards I knew he ran out of answers real quick, calling those running plays for King on 3rd and longs instead of calling them on earliest downs was pathetic. In a game like this we needed to run the ball on 1st and 2nd down no matter what a d run it's gain on 3rd down just to set the tone but also force Clemson to have to defend the run, we just abandoned the run only down 7 and 14 points, had we limited Clemson's possessions and shortened the game up and made it a more physical game.

To many smoke and mirrors on offense and defense, that'll work for so long, at some point you gotta man-up!
