The Showdown at Kidd Brewer Stadium

So if Vegas set the short spread based on perception, why hasn't it moved since Miami is getting around 80% of the bets? Oh yeah...because Vegas has their money and fully expects App State to cover the spread, thus Vegas wins.

Also, it doesn't matter how or why the game was scheduled. Due to the fact that App State's AD is a former Marketing Coordinator or some variation of that for Mizzou, he is able to sell the program and the series. This App State team, as a whole, is better than the 2007 team that beat Michigan. The only real disparity is QB play and Armanti Edwards was the first CFB QB regardless of division to throw for 10,000 yards and rush for 4,000 yards in a career.

In regards to Miami being the first P5 school to visit (P5 is a bull**** division created by ESPN to drive their cash cow further while stomping out the programs who more or less cost more to broadcast than they bring in) you have to start somewhere. Don't let the P5 v. G5 fool you. The talent gap is actually closing while the monetary gap (due to TV contracts and the playoff set-up) is widening. It isn't a coincidence that G5 and FCS victories over P5 schools has remained constant while the dollars continue to flow to schools who traditionally are seen as more powerful, though that power resides purely in marketability.

Miami fans (not necessarily the team) is going to be in for a rude awakening this Saturday and you'll learn that your bulldog attitude can't match up to your puppy dog ***.

Miami fans is?

That app store degree is really paying off I see

from FoxSports.

Upset Special: Miami at Appalachian State (+3.5)
Too obvious? App State won’t sneak up on the ‘Canes after nearly upsetting Tennessee, but the Mountaineers are talented enough to pull this one off at home.

Pick: Appalachian State 34, Miami 30

This makes my blood boil. App State couldn't score when they needed to against UT, and were gifted half their points. If they score 34 on us then Diaz needs to be put on notice. I simply can't see that happening. Far more likely we destroy their O-line early and often. It's App State, not Florida State.

ESPN wants to prove once and for all time that Miami is just a chitty midmajor that cheated its way to a few titles back in the '80's. (Just like UNLV won a NC in basketball).Better watch the officials in this damned game. (There's more than one Terry Porter out there.)

As long as they aren't the officials from the Miami - Duke game where they missed about 7 block in the backs to let Miami win.

Sorry, my editor is out to lunch.

You guys actually talking trash with an App Store fan? That's like playing dodgeball with one of Dr. Nowzaradan's patients. Jesucristo this program needs to start winning again.

My point exactly. Won't be happening this weekend.

How's that six point victory over the might Trojan's? Need a Cox for that?

I know that it comes as a shock to someone as sheltered as yourself, but imagine if you will a school that has fans from all across the country!

Probably too much for you to handle but it actually happens at real schools. Just think in 20 or 30 years there might even be an app store fan that lives outside of Boone!

Not to mention Raleigh is one of the best cities in America. I'll be moving there shortly after obtaining my masters God willing

I lived in Raleigh for three years but recently moved to Greensboro after getting a job (working with a company who builds airplanes, be careful on what airline you use if you got HILLBILLY'S helping).

My issue with Raleigh is that city planners continue to rezone for residential areas despite not improving infrastructure one bit. You have two lane roads that are supposed to accommodate 80,000 people getting off of work at the same time.

It's the "Cane in SITE". Might as well debate who can spell considering i'm a Hillbilly and all who has never been out of the hills of North Carolina/Tennessee. :tedbong:

Still not sure if people who are saying that actually believe it or are talking just to talk. FSU fans are more likely to be rednecks than App State fans honestly. Gator fans by in large are rednecks.

Yeah I was in Raleigh at nc state for two years before moving down to Central Florida. Awesome town and nice people. That was when Hillsborough was going through a ton of construction. Greensboro is rough on the eyes but gotta go where the job takes ya. Raleigh may be bad on traffic but it's no i4 running through Orlando I can guarantee you that not to mention they tend to keep a lot of NC taxpayer money for those roads near Raleigh and not for places in need like Charlotte and wilmy

Actually, it probably will.

You'll notice you haven't seen any trash talking coming out of the actual Hecht Athletic Center itself? That's a sign of a disciplined program that increasingly has its sh*t together and is focused on the ball game, not the distractions.

I'd be very concerned up at Happy Appy of I were you.

That said, I think you guys are well on your way to becoming Boise State if you put money into the program and into recruiting. I'd much rather have the Canes do Home and Home with App State than bloody FAMU. Florida A&M is a high school team that we shouldn't be playing.

App fan talking about their national championships. Hahaha. I live in north carolina. Born and raised. App is everyones plan C school. National championships........

Thats like crowning the fastest ******.

It's a state school. Put a little money into recruiting and the weight room, get a little lucky. Win the conference a few times, and Voila! You're Boise State!

They'd just have to beat a D-1 school in a New Year's Day Bowl game.

Unfortunatley, with their luck, they'll catch Alabama in an off year and catch Darth when he's ****ed off.

Well I think they are actually getting a greater ROI considering their investment occurred 25 years ago. The issue I have is that public investments are supposed to be a zero-sum game for the state as the budget is to be balanced, not create a surplus as surplus is waste. In Morrisville for example, 54 is mostly two lane however a lot of people working in RTP live in Morrisville. There are around 200,000 people that get off of work at 5:00 and head back to Durham, Morrisville, Raleigh and Chapel Hill and the two lane roads become gridlock in all of those places.

Greensboro isn't ideal however it is closer to the center of the state so I'm about one hour from the mountains, three from Wilmington and only about 45 minutes from Durham and Raleigh. I will be more interested in living in Raleigh once the people pull their thumbs out of their *** and realize that a light rail system will actually help ease congestion quite a bit.

The problem is they are in the south, and a lot of big time football, even from schools like Duke, is played in the south. Boise was able to pick those west coast recruits that turned out to be 4 star level talent because nobody wanted to go to San Diego State or Fresno once Boise got a little success. I'm not sure those recruits will want to go to App. State, even if it makes some bowl games, because of Kentucky and NC State and Duke and company. Unless their coach is just a really good salesman.

Behind State and UNC. That isn't bad company to be in from an academic stand point. I couldn't go to App because they didn't have the program I was looking for and neither did UNC. State may have it but I didn't have any interest in living in Raleigh so I chose ECU. I also shunned a view private school opportunities because I wasn't interested in majoring what they were offering a scholarship for.

Everyone has their reasons and like Raleigh wasn't for me, the mountains aren't for a lot of other people.

Not really sure I or most other people appreciate the use of the term ****** in the way you are using it either. A National Championship is a National Championship and when you are interested in actually breaking down the basics of why App is getting some looks from the National Media for this game, i'll be here.

The best App could ever hope for is a low rent version of VaTech. Pull off the occasional upset, with the major difference being that their conference schedule sucks balls. Like vatech, the trophy case will be perpetually empty.
