People complained about the protest above, and they didn't take a knee. It's wasn't about the fist then, and it's not about the kneeling now. It's about one simple truth: Certain people can't stand it when people of color demand to be treated as full participants in the republic. Apparently, we should be happy that we aren't being hung from trees on a regular basis anymore, with the whole town watching. We shouldn't push for better, we shouldn't push for the society that people like Dr. King, Malcolm and countless others were willing to die in order to achieve.

We should be happy that we still live in a country where appealing to bigots will win you elections on a regular basis. We should be happy that there are monuments to TREASON throughout the old Confederacy. It's not about the flag, it's not about the troops. If it was, then people would be appalled that monuments to the Confederacy were ever built in this country, much less allowed to stand in the 21st century. Remember the following: Joe Louis, Jackie Robinson and Medgar Evers were ALL veterans. They all dealt with shocking levels of bigotry once they took that uniform off. These backwater jerkasses couldn't care less about the flag, it's about exercising what little power they can over someone else. While the elites laugh their asses off at these trailer park living failures(You really think Trump would spend five minutes with these idiots), they get to feel some fleeting power by messing with the one group they can.

My comment wasn't about the validity of the reason for protest. It was entirely about all the people who would have agreed but are turned off by the disrespect. This has become about the flag or anthem to most people. If anyone was ever trying to raise awareness, they failed.

And yes, protesting the flag of the winning side against the confederacy is quite ironic.

So how's that working out? Are people discussing the validity of the reasons for protests or are they discussing the disrespect for the flag/anthem?

I'm not saying the protesters' points aren't valid. I'm saying they chose a form of protest that alienates people who would ordinarily be on their side. I'm pretty sure the people using white-only fountains, tables, etc. were never going to agree with the protesters.
