The run game

Absolutely not because I saw our run game over the first 4 weeks. FSU sold out to stop the run, so our QB threw 4 TD and had a 5th called back. Its reverse from the UF game.

5th called back and 6th dropped. To paraphrase the late great Mike Leach- balance isn’t having a 50-50 run pass ratio. Balance is distributing the ball to the player makers.

I get what you’re saying, but I do think the predictability and lack of variation in the run game hurts us. The sweep to Marion worked beautifully. Why not do that a bit more? Running up the gut over and over isn’t always going to be effective.
The more you do it the less it works. See FSU tonight.

We won't have an explosive run game this season. We are 5 yards and a cloud of dust and that is not going to change.

Like I said he didn’t look right to me. Not sure if he’s still hurt or what, limited sample size but he has just 12 carries for 29 yards.
Yeah, he might still be hurt. He didn't look explosive at all. Another thing Fletch does well is being used as a decoy. He really opens up other options and that allows our offense to roll. If Lyle is not 100%, he shouldn't be in the game. I know Fletcher and Brown didn't have monster games, but they were much more effective than Lyle.

Anyone else concerned with how ineffective the run game was tonight? Yes, FSU sold out to stop the run, but they’re a bad run defense. UVA just gashed them for 200+. We’re probably not complaining about being so conservative if we convert some of those run plays in the 4th. Instead, we could barely gain a yard. Lyle also didn’t look right to me.

Should we be concerned or is this a one game outlier?
it speaks to why folks outside of this board say we're a complete team ... take the run away and we can pass it well ...

The run game has been mediocre. Not one rb on the roster could see mop up duty on the 2001 team… let alone challenge for PT
Lol the Rb’s on that team were some of the best to ever play here. Fletcher and Brown are solid backs but not sure why you are comparing them to the 2001 group.

No. This was a textbook case of “cool, I can hit a curve to the opposite side of the stadium” offense. We didn’t need to run often, and when we did, we got the first.
