The run game

Not concerned. In the first half, we ran the ball almost exclusive from tight/bunches due to crowd noise. If the run game was needed, they would have spread things out, motioned WRs as necessary for an additional blocker, as they showed in the 2nd half.

In truth, Lyles being back sort of threw the run game and backs off a bit. I get wanting to insert him, but I felt his carries in the first half should have gone to Fletcher.

I think working Lyle into the rotation hurt us, especially with Brown who looked good as usual
At least two entire possessions were wasted. I understand if your plaLn was to get him to the outside where he can use his spead. But it was the same old run up the middle plays that Fletcher and Brown do well. Lyle is not effective there - maybe it was more obvious because he hasn't played in so long. Was frustrating to watch

I’ve said this a million times. You can stop any run game if you throw enough numbers at it. You can’t block eight with 5.

It’s no coincidence we had as many explosive plays in the pass game because they were selling out against the run. I just don’t like that we still run into a wall over and over when the passing game is gashing them for huge plays but I’m not Dawson or Mario so it is what it is.

It’s too predictable at times. I don’t have a problem leaning on the run while we’re up by a few scores, but you can’t load the box with condensed sets in obvious run situations. Be more creative.
Exactly. For me it’s the design of bringing everyone into the box on runs only to nose dive into the gut instead of doing what most other teams do and spread the defense out to lighten the box

I feel like every single time over the last 25 years of football, whenever I hear "X gashed them for 200 yards, so we'll run all over them," it never, ever happens that way.

They did the opposite of what UF did, which is force us to throw the ball. If Mario didnt go into a shell after 28-3 we could went for 400 yards throwing. At times they had 9 in the box. This was actually what I wanted to see. When the running game was not working against a team with talent, can we throw the ball. We did.

Like I said he didn’t look right to me. Not sure if he’s still hurt or what, limited sample size but he has just 12 carries for 29 yards.
Lyle looks the same as he did last year to me theres just a bigger spotlight on him now with the higher expectations. I never understood the Lyle hype. It wasn't like he was freshmen year frank gore or Duke Johnson ripping off long runs left and right last year. I actually think Ajay Allen had more burst through the hole and ran harder than Lyle last year.
