I recall watching the 2nd half at a friends house during a party. Flat out depressed after that loss. Folks don’t realize that we went through 86/87/88/89 virtually unscathed. To lose, much less against an inferior team, was unheard of back then. It was a shot to the gut.

Yes it was. We assumed that we could lose but it has to be to ND, FSU, Bama, or some other team of that caliber.
Not BYU.

So, you started a thread AFTER the season finale, based on a Salt Lake City news report focused on BYU getting a 3-second reference?

Meanwhile, there were FIVE Young Rock episodes that spent part, or the entirety, of the show focused on UM (pilot episode, season finale, and 3 UM-centric episodes). Episodes that featured Russell Maryland, Darrin Smith, Michael Barrow, Warren Sapp, Ray Lewis, Dennis Erickson, Ed Orgeron, Luther Campbell, and Drew Rosenhaus.

And I started a thread on this in September of 2020.

Happened a lot. Great eye for skill position guys, innovative on offense, but even going back and watching some of those rank and file Big East games are frustrating. He got them up for some huge games but fell flat in plenty of others.
 
The thing about the 1990 BYU game that most dont realize is that BYU had a game the week prior (against a cupcake) yet the Canes were playing their first game of the season. That's a bigass deal to be in week two while your opponent is in week one.

Truth.
 
The things I remember most from that 90 BYU game is we could not run the ball on them at all and that they fumbled 5 times, lost 4 and we still lost. Pretty rare.
