Last season after we smashed VT and then ND back to back, i said if we are back or going to take the next step, we must smash UVA at home and then Pitt which were average bad teams. We Struggle v UVA and loss to Pitt.

This season im saying if we are gonna take the next step, we must deal with the next 6 opponents adequately and take a next shot at Clemson. No we don't need to win each game by 21 points or more but we must appear to be in the control of these games.

How do we do that? Its on 2 things, 1 is the special teams particularly the punting. If they need to start rugby style or angle them out of bounds for 30 yards so be it. It's atrocious. Audition some of the female soccer players if necessary.

The final thing is for Mark Richt to unleash Perry. No im not talking about the proverbial open up the playbook. What i mean is throwing on first down. I want to go back and watch every snap of FSU and see how many times we threw on first down.... it was not alot. And this directly led to 2nd and 3rd and long, bad punt, short field for FSU. He needs to come out with a mind set like Diaz, attack the opposition. No doubt the opposition mind set will be stop Dallas and Homer and put it on the FR QB. Richt trusted Rosier to throw alot and he was bad or inconsistent. He needs to put the same faith in Kosi. See how he responds and let us find out if we have to look to Jarren. Because i feel if we keep hold of key JRs we will have a legit top 5 team coming into next year if Kosi balls out which must begin now. More max protect with 2 TEs and go deep, more bootlegs. Stop running into stack boxes and where the **** is the wildcat with Deejay handling the ball? Steamroll the rest of the regular season games and get to the ACCCG with an identity and knowing exactly what you are on offense.

Totally agree with all your points! Great observation. I look at how Oklahoma gets their receivers the ball in space - and wonder how we can do the same. I believe we have comparable athletes. Obviously Kyler Murray is a superior QB to Kosi at the moment - but our other skill players are at or above OU's

the joke in our section last year was we would say "2nd and 9" before every new possession started, and usually after every 1st down run up the middle it was 2nd and 9 at best. It feels like Bill Murray's Ground Hog Day this year... We made average D-lines look All-American...

How much of the run on 1st is a habit and how much of is coach not trusting his QB. Remember Mark is not one to take questionable risks with the ball. Now this is just a guess on my part, but looking at his teams UGA - they didn't have this tendency neither did FSU when he was OC. I think it comes down to what he thinks his QB and skilled players are able to accomplish (aka: what he trust them to execute correctly). By the way the first 1st & 10 against UNC was a, what 30+ yard pass? Now do I think at times he forces the run - yes. But is that because down/distance/d tendencies dictate a run at this point, but the defense doesn't line up/play that way? Is the true problem Mark isn't allowing his QB to audible out (because he doesn't trust their ability to take that task on) the play ends up being 2 yards and a cloud a dust? Not sure.

Once again I think there are times he runs when he should be doing a more finessed play (pass, screen, reverse, etc). But overall I do think some of the play calling is about trust and the teams ability to execute.

I did like the play call where Deejay threw the ball, gotta get the ball in his hands in more wildcat

I agree! I will sacrifice myself and volunteer to audition the soccer players you suggested.

If Miami puts up another 2 1/2 quarters same as UM-FSU on Saturday, there isn't a game left on the schedule that won't be a fright and fight until the last drive.

ACCCG? Likely embarrassment. Clemson killers know how to step on the neck of opponents who give them a 2 1/2 cushion of charmin softness.

Miami plays every quarter like 1/2 3rd and 4th...could see at least a new ACC Champ this year...

We have 8 kickers on our roster (per ESPN). Seems only Feagles, Spicer were recruited as punters BUT, Baxa had one punt in high school of 40 yards (no video) and a senior on our roster Alejandro Cardenas has video of him kicking in practice and he seems to have good distance and hang time...

Takes awhile to get to his punts but compared to what we are getting I wonder if he is available?

The thing on Defense that makes me feel confident that we won't see a repeat of last season is that the Defense is playing much more dominant this season.
Willis is making a living in the backfield and that up the middle pressure is something that kills drives for opposing teams.

Offensively we are doing a much better job converting short yardage scenarios and grinding out the clock to close out games.

Just taking a quick look and you would be surprised by the ratio of run/pass on first down. I didn't go through the whole game but it was only a slight edge to running. The problem was that almost every pass was either incomplete or a sack on first down.

Would like to see improvement in every category in each game the rest of the season. Do that we may be able to give Clemson a decent game if we make it that far.
