This is what I asked for, season after season with other coaches we had. They couldn’t recruit so it failed. Just get us in the mix yearly and I am fine. Cause we were irrelevant asf, the fan base though thought we were that old Miami and the expectations were high but we were a has been. But if you read CIS and were on X all day you would have thought we were a national power.

Kirby and UGA were always in the mix when he arrived and that was UGA and they were left in a better spot than us, same like Lanning at Oregon. I signed up for this type of HC at UM. If Kirby can accidentally win two natties and Ryan Day. Mario can do it as well, just stack elite talent. Simple

I will still be mad if we lose the sfla elites and will post about it anyway regardless.

I still remember being on Grassy in the summer/fall of 1999 when rumors started to percolate about Williams having some interest in Miami from Concord De La Salle. At first there was disbelief and skepticism that this could even be a possibility -- and then, well, you know the words of Al Michaels...

From that class on, Butch had some unreal hauls (really too bad he didn't fulfill his destiny at Miami and get a few rings before leaving)

But Williams was huge in that era

Must of been crazy back then. Wasn’t around back at that time rooted from a distance. But I agree with the fact Miami is Miami when its recruits beasts nationally mix with sfla beasts. You become a national power by recruiting nationally. Make sense?
 
I was on Grassy on signing day in 97, 98, 99 etc. DJ Williams was the biggest signing we had up to that point in several years. KK instilled a lot of hope as well, but the Williams signing was like edge of your chair… YES!!

Back then there was no national up to the minute signing news, so you kept hitting refresh on the sticky signing day thread, hoping, praying as Bryan Knoll updated the list from sources at the Hecht.
