The Reason Miami is @ Toledo

Idk. @App St was pretty sweet. Everyone thought they'd beat us cause they played Tenn close then we crushed their soul from the 1st offensive snap.

I agree though that there's no reason for us to play these games, other than previous ADs not wanting to pay teams to come here. Seems like we're done with these G5 road games after 2019 though

Traveling to Boone is always great because it is insanely beautiful, but by us playing in that smaller stadium,, which wasn't truly prepared for us.> led to them adding more seats> which led to the band being placed in spots pregame that it normally doesn't> which led to our players having to run onto the field through the band> which led to some accidental contact of said band> which led to band members racist (imo) BS accusation that our players sexual assaulted her on the way onto the field> which led to hurricanes black eye. still won't forgive them for that bull****.

I was there @ Appy State and you'd of thought it was a NC game! By the start of the 3rd quarter, there were almost nothing but us Canes left in the stands.

Appy State typically as a pretty decent team. ****, they beat MEEchigan a few years ago.

App st isn’t bad considering they just almost ruin penn sts season

I haven’t looked it up but I seriously doubt PSU is playing at App State. It’s complete amateur hour on Miami’s part and will come back to bite us one day. Hopefully, it doesn’t happen Saturday.

Probably trying to save money and not having to pay these schools large chunks of cash so we agreed to a home and home. Just my guess.

I know schedules were different when we were an independent, as was college football, and schedules were different even 10-20 years ago, but we used to play at ECU, Tulsa, Cincy etc. in the 80s all the time. In the 90s we played at ECU, Cincy, Memphis. In 2003 we played at La Tech, in 2004 we played at Houston. Let's not act like this is something brand new. Do I like it? No, but it's not brand new. Also, looking at future schedules, I think we're done doing it, so just let it play out and stop whining.

Yeah you’re right

It's all about money. Scheduling a home game against the Toledos of the world would cost Miami an up to 1.5 million dollar payout. If Miami owned their own stadium and could guarantee an 80 thousand person attendance, it would be no big deal. Since Miami is already paying rent AND rarely gets over 45k in attendance for these types of games, it ends up costing the athletic department money to play a HOME game. The logical recourse is to schedule two for ones or even home and homes against these smaller schools.

I;m not crazy about it but it's not really that odd for Miami to play at these schools. They've been doing it for years. In the independent days, it was often a task to fill out their annual schedule and even during the Big East days there were road trips to G5 schools. Maybe, with continued attendance growth (last week's Savannah game was surprisingly full) they can use the revenue to just pay these small schools. Either that or hope for an expanded conference schedule.

doesn't it have something to do with the fact that teams want more and more money to have them visit you so the easier way to do it is through a home and home?

We have the most recognizable brand in college athletics. The U is recognized worldwide. Nothing wrong with giving these folks in Ohio a quick taste. Maybe we pick up a couple new fans in the process. ****, maybe we land a 5 star QB in 10 years who says he became a Canes fan when he watched them curb stomp his beloved Rockets (Not gone lie, I had to google this) in Toledo back in 2018 as a little kid. Ah nevermind. We shouldn’t be playing in ******* Toledo. **** Kirby.

was Hocutt friends with the App St, and Ark St AD's also? Good Lord! We also play at Temple in 2023, is that dude his friend too? Is it possible to be any worse as an AD than he was?
Temple is a respectable team in a respectable conference. And Philly is a great location for fans and alumni. We played them at the Linc when they were at their low point and three quarter of the fans were for Miami.

We last played at Temple bc we were both in the Big East. They then got kicked out of the Big East bc they weren't respectable enough even for it, after it had already started losing teams. Temple had a couple good seasons recently, and their coach then left for BAYLOR. They aren't respectable.

I figured it was because by doing home and homes they didnt have to pay these these weaker teams the million to come play at our place. We have scheduled these like 3 yrs in a row. I guess Kirby also had friends at App State and that stupid team thats suing us. Not. If it wasnt these guys it would have been some other.

Real talk. I swear every time I hear the name Toledo I think it's in Canada or some chit..

Temple isn't a respectable program...they are filler games for teams like Miami. Miami gains nothing from that game.

Well, Miami don't have the CASH REVENUE to pay for a one time home game against the Temple's of the major college football landscape. dUh!
