Perry has second start against FSU. His first start is week before and Richt draws up for an entire game, under gameday conditions, hardly any pass plays. The entire second half of the UNC game were running plays, maybe we threw it twice in the second half. There is not much strategic planning going on with Richt if he can look one week ahead going in with a green QB and not taking advantage of the opportunities to prepare Perry as well as possible.
I am concerned with our preparation for big games, I am probably more sensitive because every UGA fan has warned me of the one game a year stinker Richt delivers for an unexpected loss. I gave Richt a pass last year for the Pitt game because we had such a dream season before. But I am concerned now.
As far as talent goes, we are on our way and the talent on this team is getting to a place we can remember from the good old days, not yet there but certainly we are stocking the cupboards with some really good football players.
WInning against FSU by one point may just be a rite of passage but lets be a little more startegic in our long term planning. If Perry has no ability to do a pre-snap read of the defense and change out of a play where we have a handoff to Homer into the teeth of the defensive alignment then our coaches have not thought adequately about the path forward. They need to teach Perry or move on to Jarren Williams! I give them all the credit in the world from moving on from Rosier and Feagles, but what the **** took so long??? And why wweren't both of these issues dealt with in the off-season? Poor strategic planning would be the best and most likely culprit.
