Is making college football like college basketball, giving the non 1 and done schools a shot to compete via transfers.. Hopefully will level the playing field somewhat as SEC has become the equivalent of the 1 and done schools, and the rest are just watching. Seems like a great fit for the Canes as we rebuild the recruiting pipeline the only way we can, winning...

So does the SEC outside of Bama and to an extent Georgia. Top to bottom the SEC is certainly stronger but let's not pretend it's some unstoppable juggernaut. There are plenty of mediocre/bad schools in the SEC.

there are a group of schools that are the "haves" most are SEC and some others from other conferences, leave it up to CIS to find the 1 thing to harp on thats really not the point, its about the "haves" and "have nots" and leveling the playing field

The portal is parity, a tool to level recruiting. Until someone goes and ***s it up.

Leveling the playing field sounds great when you are coming off of 15 years of mediocrity. If we ever reach the top again it won't sound so great.

But, I agree that on balance it is a good thing for the players.

I think some of you are greatly exaggerating what the portal is doing and has done.

About 90% of the Power 5 schools have been completely unaffected by it. We are one of the few schools loading up on guys with it.

I would agree with you, but, we have so far struck gold, Martell, Bubba, Kennedy, Osborne from Buffalo. Manny does see his roster and knows what he has and what he needs. Would like to See Hall, and DT from UCLA, hoping Manny and Enos find another OLineman.

Agree. I'm just sick of the perpetual SEC worship, particularly when in reality it's just been Bama and then everybody else for the last decade. But yes, I agree with your overall point about leveling the playing field.

Like I said, we are one of the few schools loading up on quality guys. The majority of programs have seen little or no change.

The portal has proven the fact that Miami is still a very viable brand and program that kids want to play for. IMO, if we can get over the hump we have a legitimate shot and getting back some of our past success.
It seems that Diaz is trending to embrace the things that made Miami attractive back in the day, we're a different animal.

Necessity is the Motherfukker of invention, could be they are just behind the curve. We were before we weren’t. Recruiting/ post recruiting is changing, again by necessity. Manny has put us out in front of it, let’s see where the future of the Portal goes.
