Play is from 9:45 to 10:10 mark in the above video.

Scenario: 2nd and 14 after a stuffed run put the offense behind the chains. Enos comes out in what looks to be shotgun, 12 personnel,(2 TE, 1RB) with Michael Irv 2 flexed out in the Y and the other TE(unsure) lined up inline.

Route combinations: TE: Seams
WRX: comeback
WRZ: slant/drag
RB: Flare route/ flats

Defense Typical assignments MLB: Hook-Curl, zone
WLB: Curl-Flat, zone
SLB: Hook-Curl, zone
SS: Curl-Flat, zone
CB1: Deep 3rd-zone
CB2: Deep 3rd-zone
FS: Deep 3rd-zone(middle)

The defense is in what looks to be a base 4-3 zone defense with double high safety(weird). Linebackers 4 yards off LOS, corners 5 yards off LOS, and safeties(out of screen) at least 9 yards off LOS.

At the 1st scan of the LOS Perry recognizes that Michael Irv is uncovered(immediately) and eyes the Will linebacker positioning that could possibly be a threat to him completing this throw to an uncovered Irvin. Technically that Will is supposed to have curl to flats(wrX) but he tries to cheat when he sees Irvin cross his face.

Technically the Strong safety is supposed to have curl to flats on the opposite side which would Null the Deejay play in this defense.

Two seams coming at a free safety and the QB can pick his poison based upon the safety reaction.

Based upon the defense and alignment Nkosi made the correct read. We know this because of the defense called as well as Enos saying he wants his QBs to look at alignments and pre-snap positioning as well as going through necessary progressions, basically if a mans uncovered throw it to the open fuqin guy!

Perry climbs the pocket to bide time for Irvin to get past the sticks and delivers a strike in between two defenders that were in no position to contest the throw and would not have been there if not for blowing assignments.

In my humble opinion, the entire play shows the impact Enos is having on Perry and his growth within the system.

He never did any of those things in 1 snap last season.

This is just what I see in the play. I don't claim to be an expert. I also don't think football is rocket science.

Good find and I'm glad you shared it. While it isn't an end zone cam, this only proves what I said previously. That other video, shrunk the field due to an inferior angle that didn't show how much space there was on the play.

Anyhow, this is what I said previously in the other thread.

I'm not going to say if it was the right call or not, but the angle from the sideline cam can be deceptive on what's there or isn't there in relation to space on a play. He could very well have his target between two defenders ten yards apart and he's in the middle. Also, what does his throwing lane look like? Him apparently leaving his feet suggests his view was obstructed. On a phone can be even more magnified and or shrunk as everything is smaller.

Simply put, I would have to see it from the end zone to see what his throwing window was over the middle. Too tough to tell from that angle and on a small screen.

At least on this vid, the out to DJ looks safe.

Now, seeing both, either would honestly work. He made what was a safe throw here though for certain and took it at the opportune time.

It was a good throw, the only reason so many people were nitpicking it is because they're trying to discredit anything Perry does good because our fans have dug in & are fanboying for "their" QB.

Most of the fans on here don't want Perry to win the QB race, so regardless of what he does it will be dissected & picked apart negatively. And I say that as someone who believes both Jarren & Tate can lead us to a Coastal title.

Instead of just wanting the best man to win whoever it may be amongst the 3, people will be entrenched all Summer rooting for their guy, competition be damned lol.

I'm good with all 3, because unlike the situation last year we finally have a real QB competition & I fully trust that Enos will have all 3 prepared & ready to play come 8/24. The entire QB room has elevated now that we have real OC/QB coach.
I couldn't say it any better then you!! I agree 100%! Thank you my man!!

I agree. I will support whichever young man the coaches want to put at QB because I trust that they know who can lead the team until proven otherwise.

I won't mince words or be fake. Even though it doesn't affect how i support the team I do want Perry to win the QB battle though. I'd like to see a Florida boy lead the team to something great. I would never use his success or lack thereof to build up or put down any other player on the team, though.

I just like the kid as a player. I love that he hasn't quit despite all of the negative energy. I believe he is too talented to keep off the field when he is being properly tutored. I could be wrong.

Time will tell. Nkosi definitely has Jarren and Tate in their bag this summer. Im loving it.

Love how there's 2 guys wide open.

LOL. Love how we are playing double-high safety against a 12 personnel. Why didn't the SS walk down? Why didn't the will rush to Curl-flats?

Leave the flats wide open on both sides worried about the seams and still got beat by the seams.

Sheesh.

Looks really bad. Nkosi knew it was a win no matter what he did.

That's Diaz when we don't get to the QB. This will be wildly unpopular, but his defense is completely feast or famine.

No. This is on the players. This wasnt by design.

Im sure the players knew what play/routes were coming and went to cheat on the play.

If every defender is doing their job in this defense it is absolutely the right call. He threw it to the target running to the soft spot of the defense called. Perry did the right thing.

It only looks risky because the defense is cheating.

Hope you’re not referring to me, because I started the original thread.

No, referring to the people in the thread who tried to say it was bad decision & looked over it as if it were zapruder film trying to discredit Kosi.

That wasn’t my intention, although Kosi groupies accused me of it. I was looking at it as an exercise in progressions and just understanding why a QB goes here instead of there. It could have been any QB, but that was the clip that showed up in my timeline.

In the same thread the Martell groupies where trying to make it about their QB.

You can find something to critique about any three of the QBs, they were all just ok, with maybe a Kosi a nose hair ahead at the end of spring.

There’s nothing wrong with looking at plays and trying to figure out, “what would the OC have wanted?.

All three need to put in a ton of work because nobody is there yet.

What the f***?
Guess everyone has to have a hobby

Agree on all of that. The other video though was lower angle and made it appear as if Irvin was blanketed by the two defenders. My main thing was pointing out that as I used to be a photographer and know how angles can shrink depth of field.

Before you typed this dumb ****, that brought nothing of value, did you think it was cool or had a purpose? 🤔
Actually no, I read it a realized that some people, such as yourself, need more time on your hands to waste doing nothing useful.

Then I realized that people like you are helpless and useless, and I really shouldn't waste my time either.

However, occasionally I get a kick out of ****ing off the less intelligent, well, because it's just too easy.

I'm still not a fan of throwing late over the middle but this angle makes it appear that Irving is certainly open where the first video appeared to be a forced throw into coverage. Situation plays a role in these types of decisions too. Early in the game or with the lead, the safe dump off is probably the preferred choice. If it's late in the game and we need to a chunk play the seam is the better option.
