The only thing that can save us

Everybody is looking for some type of miracle patchwork. That is the pathetic aspect.

I always read mockery here regarding participation trophies. But the day to day themes are exactly the opposite. Nobody wants to do the work to get back to the top in robust meaningful staying power fashion. No, you are desperate for a quick fix like offensive coordinator with the spread, football director of operations, and change of university president.

It's always hatred of some figure in a top spot, and assigning all cures if that spot is reoccupied. I don't know why I'm ever surprised, given the demographic here. Meanwhile you can't tell 5000 lies per year and regain college football supremacy. Elite recruits are not going to be influenced by lies and fear. You actually have to earn your way back to that championship level. The reality right now is that we have a head coach who has been here one season. He is not a member of the Central Park Five. Nothing off the field is going to disqualify him in stereotyped fearful fashion. Diaz is likely to remain head coach for at least two more seasons. As always, I default to normalcy and not overreaction based on partisanship, just like when I emphasized in late 2016 that an incumbent is huge favorite to be re-elected 4 years later, no matter what it looks like in between.

I never understand why people are so obsessed with day to day details instead of sitting back and allowing normalcy to play out. We're an 8-4 level program that has somewhat underachieved in recent seasons, more often than not. A new college president isn't magically going to move the bar to 10-2 level or 6-6 level.

This football program is more like a soap opera right now. Ignore every episode for 6 months and you basically haven't missed anything.

Yep, last year it was elementary, anyone could see it; all we needed was an OC and QB Coach, and Perry or JW to have a chance because CMR was biased towards Rosier.

Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.
