The Ole Miss Thread

yes it was garbage. This is a football game, you have to factor in what is happening. All game I was pointing out how crap Georgia OL was. Stacy Searles doing Searles things. Georiga was getting beat up on the line each play. When they didn't completely get blown up it was easy picking. Ole Miss was trying to let em score at times.

What an odd framing to disprove the analytics above.

Yeah I like that idea better — post spring rather than post winter — but tbh I don’t think that can hold either.

Kids are going to want to transfer to practice w/ their new teams in the spring. Obviously mad money is being thrown around but getting to your new school a semester early has tons of benefits.

The two portal periods was madness but this Ole Miss-LSU ordeal had like a 1% chance of happening & it is knocking down the house of cards that is the ten day, one portal period in the heart of the playoffs.

I think transfers are going to have to be limited like scholarships. Because players’ freedom of movement can’t be restricted; my best recommendation is each team has 12-18 per year or something like that. Makes it more concrete. Even this proposal prob has a ton of unintended consequences.

It’s very tough to envision a solution that can holdup without Congressional support, and Congressional support seems extremely far away atm. Im not saying Congressional support will necessarily be good; I am saying that it will make the rules actually enforceable; additionally, possibly curtail the frequency of transfers as well as renegotiating of contracts
Put spring practices in may as well. Then they get 2 months off and fall practice begins at the end of July.

The one match up that scares me most

The backyard style, broken plays, scrambles, the made for TV stuff that makes for highlights but isnt exactly real football type offense with the hurry up, run as many plays you can street ball

Its garbage

That said, this is best version of it we have seen and it historically gives us trouble. That said, Louisville only scored 24, SMU which is a watered down version only 20 in regulation

Chambliss is much better at running this offense than a Marcell Reed, hes way more acurrate, and they have some WRs

Ole Miss likes to play off schdule, frantic football. Miami doesnt

I know its not pretty, but we need to run, run, play action, and run more, while actually limiting possessions, which was the issue we all wanted to avoid all season. Beck needs to snap it with 2 sec on the play clock

Im nervous, this is the game where we can do everything right on defense and then a ninsense broken play works for them

I need Pepto

The D was not garbage.
You don’t dominate to this degree and have a garbage defense.

Is this the whole team though? Ole Miss kinda did what they wanted offensively. UGA was 4 ypc minus sacks. Closer to 4.5 if you totally remove Stockton. Granted some of his rushing was designed but a lot of backyard ball. UGA was also 18/30 on passing downs. A ton of just no hope deep heaves impacting that number.

I’m not saying Ole Miss played atrociously defensively. But some of these analytics in football can be skewed by how the game was called. UGA didn’t run a ton of high efficiency passing plays. A ton of screens and then again just go routes that Stockton had no chance of completing against FCS schools.

Will need depth on the DL as well

Pickett, Scroggins, and we are down OJ at CB which is now big.

As great as our pass rush is, we migth actually be better off here rushing 3 and dropping more guys in coverage

We need to shorten this game

Ole Miss will make us sweat but ultimately we will constrict them as we have every SEC team we've faced this season. You can't prepare for our trenches.

That’s because Ole Miss has a Top 5 offense that scores on most everyone. Including really good defenses.

So it takes you out of your game script. And it can do that because the Ole Miss defense is good enough to not let you just methodically march down the field non-stop drive after drive.

I don’t think Ole Miss has an elite defense.

They have arguably the best offense in CFB.
And a good to even really good defense when you adjust for pace of play and volume of plays run against them.

Can you have some down to down success on them? Sure. But it’s not easy to constantly have down to down success on them. As it’s not easy to do that on any defense.

And that all you need with their offense. And then it’s Stockton having to take chances downfield because the earlier game controlling drives couldn’t control it enough, and the later drives no longer have the luxury of being able to just line up and play man ball. Score and clock have scripted that out.

Georgia was missing 5 starters on D plus the Safety that was called for targeting (2nd half). Their DL is really soft and not good rushing the passer.

We will get to Trinidad often and prob get a couple of picks. We just need to stop the run and Lacy can fumble with that bad shoulder

The Georgia Bulldogs will be without five starters, including four on defense, in the Sugar Bowl against the Ole Miss Rebels. Georgia has been without starters Kyron Jones and Jordan Hall for a while now. The Bulldogs lost starters Joenel Aguero and Drew Bobo to injuries before the SEC championship game, and both players will miss the Sugar Bowl. Georgia's newest injury is to starting defensive lineman Gabe Harris, who has turf toe. Harris has not practiced for UGA in the lead up to the Sugar Bowl.

This team played tight against UF at home, scored 34 at Oklahoma against that DL, allowed 35 to Arkansas

They're just a frenetic team both sides

The only way to stop this is by controlling the clock and the ball which we hopefully can

I understand we’ve had years and years of disappointments, but **** some of you are so quick to put your full confidence in our opponent and very little in our team. No doubt this is going to be a challenge…it’s the semis of the cfp lol that’s expected. Doesn’t mean we can’t do this.
