The OL and Beck lost this one

Everybody on here can not be smarter than our OC. This defies reason. We need a town hall meeting with Dawson where we can understand this better. I refuse to believe that the only explanation for not implementing what over 90% of college football offenses are implementing is simply obstinance and clinging on to some primal philosophy of smash football. Is this really what Michigan looked like when they made their run?

Toney’s jet sweep TD was so easy.

It’s hilarious. Like there’s some rule where you have to save that for nuclear fallout. Just run it 3 times a game, give or take. What are we afraid of? Seriously, take just a few up the up-the-center’s-*** runs and, I don’t know, give it to our best playmaker on the run. Why the **** not?

While we’re at it, put Toney in the wildcat a few times. Motion our fast *** kick returner one way, then give it or Malachi takes it the opposite direction with a puller in front and an easy pass option rolling his way like Lofton.

That or I guess just run it up the center’s ***. Scared of our own shadows, I swear.
We actually got lucky 87 wasn’t called for holding.

Otherwise, agree.

For the life of me I don’t understand it.
I saw an entire day of offenses stretching the Fck out of the defenses vertically and horizontally.
I saw bama go do a toss sweep 5 yards out and I could’ve ran that in. Dude was I touched and beyond high school wide open. I started laughing out loud because we do t even consider it.
Marty and Lyle would go for 15-12 if we ran sht outside.

WHY THE HOLY FCK DO WE RUN TO THE 2 gaps where the safeties and backers know it’s going to!!!! It was the most idiotic game plan second only to dnos goal line with backers in the back of the end zone.
The seriously need to do what Brohm did to us- put some of those plays into the run game. Come up with some twists. They have to do it if they are serious about winning

What brohm did is years of getting the right personnel in and developing them for that scheme, we can’t do that overnight lol. Mario/Mirabal recruit oline for this run scheme

We need a thread on CIS myths that never come true. Miami having the best Oline in the country was crazy work. Even after the penalties and missed blocks especially by 73 who talks so much ****.

No. Michigan has a good run scheme. They would’ve been awful with our run scheme lol

Nobody talking about the defensive gameplan…we were unprepared for their quick passing game out the gate. We adjusted throughout the game, but especially those first two possessions were absolutely brutal.

As if Brohm was going to let Bain and Mesidor pin their ears back, Heatherman should have known better. We blitzed a ridiculous amount when it was VERY obvious their gameplan is get the ball out “now”. When we played Zone we gave up so much cushion the first read was always there.

I did not expect our Corners to get punked like they did in Man Coverage and outran on all YAC.

Now Penalties…Mario has had this issue at every single stop. Embarrassing for his unit. The timing of those penalties was gross, either backed up in field position or 3rd and short.

Everything has been talked about ad naseum with Dawson and the run game. However I’ll just touch on how the obvious weakness in Dawson’s coaching ability is to play against 2 high safety look. He has not been able to adjust to it since FSU of last year.

Silver lining is we have the time to fix these issues and run the table, it’s in Mario’s hands now. The way we handle the rest of the year will confirm who he is..good or bad.

The OL was underwhelming and our only run play is ran on the premise that they are the most dominant force in the history of football. Beck seems to be very reactionary emotionally and then he makes decisions that are not necessary to just win a game.

On top of that the defense was obviously unprepared for what they threw at us. Not sure what we did for two weeks but it looks like we just sat around and listen to how great we were.

It’s not about who has the best this or that. It’s about preparing during the week, executing a game plan, and being able to adjust. Everyone is beatable this year including us.

Look 2 things can be true. Sure we should run outside more and that might help some, but the vaunted OL still got no push in the run game.

I still think we should just spread it out and run it like literally every other team in CFB in 2025, but what do I know.

Also, about the pre snap penalties and defenses simulating the snap, isn't that supposed to be an easy flag on the defense every time? Are they just not calling that and allowing it?

That jet sweep and the reverse to Marion completely fooled FSU and then LVille. Imagine if we ran counters off tackle and traps along with dives. We’d be running for 300+ a game. Beck using P/A would complete 80% of his passes to wide open guys all game long.

Instead let’s just smash into a brick wall all game and throw on obvious passing downs.

28 missed tackles, 6 games in still running the wrong routes, qb throws 4 ints, and offensive scheme is questionable. This ain’t a top 5 team.

Bro ball doesn’t work when your team comes out flat and doesn’t feel like tush pushing every other play.

The OL is not the issue, we don’t have a run scheme.

Beck deserves plenty of blame, but it doesn’t help when your run game has zero explosiveness.
