The Ohio State Thread

Good win. Celebrate tonight. Work in the morning…

Like A&M, I don’t know much about this team other than that they beat a lot of softies. Post in this thread thoughts about our upcoming game…
Offense has to be better, d is amazing. If you're a Canes fan you been drewling for this game, wished I felt better about the O. But let's line it up and see what happens.

Booked travel!!! 23 years, won’t miss this one. Our dl and OL travel well. I expect a low scoring game. 17-10. First game weather won’t be a factor in a long time.

I think one thing OSU will try to do is get the ball out to central midfield real quick. Dink and dunk to neutralize Bain and Mesidor because their OL ain’t All World, then run later to try and wear us down. Set up an explosive with Smith.

Two pointers from outside the key all day in four to seven yard chunks. Two to three seconds, max. Timing plays. That’s my guess.

If it's remotely predictable we will house a pick 6.

We will need 20-27 to win
But
I like our DLine vs their OLine
I think we slow them down like IU

Beck
Needs to be ON
Shannon needs to understand where and how we can move ball….

I think we need to Let It Rip
If we play that way we can beat osu

They are not as good as last year imo

Good takes.

The trenches will be an equalizer but ultimately, Beck has to make big throws bc oSU offense is more competent.

Miami DL vs OSU OL will be the biggest edge of any unit. Miami should be able to do work. I think Miami OL has a slight edge over the OSU DL but that might be a push.

OSU’s strength is their back 7. LB is outstanding and they have a top 5 pick at safety - an absolute eraser back there.

Beck, otoh, HAS to make good throws.

All that said, Patricia is a great coach.

Their talent is legit. But a qb who hasn't faced a lot of adversity and a mediocre OL. No secondary can stop Tate + Jeremiah but we are capable of slowing them down a bit. The key is making them play our style of game and pace while Beck hits a few big pass plays. Its a lot to ask but not out of the question. Just go out and play free, not too conservative. We are playing with house money now. Go Canes 🙌

It'll probably be a similar game plan to what Louisville did against us.

What we found against Texas A&M is that despite being the best freshman in America, Malachi Toney is not “HIM” yet. He will be one day tho.

When a defense schemes specifically to take him away, he’s not at the stage of his career where he can still completely take over a game. He’s a freshman and expecting him at this point to beat a defensive coordinator’s full game plan by himself just isn’t realistic.

This really falls more on the coaching staff. If teams are going to load up and scheme for Malachi, then the offense has to make other guys productive.

Until defenses are forced to pay for focusing on Malachi, they’re going to keep doing it. I anticipate Ohio state scheming him out the offense the same way A&M did.

We have to find other ways to get guys involved. To me that is one of the keys to the game.

I think we will need a defensive or special teams score in this one. Not impossible with our guys. We will also need another very clean game from a penalties perspective, something that has been refreshing to see of late. Can’t wait!
